Insignia Clutch problem - any advice?

i have to agree - modern diesels - with DMFs and particulate filters (DPFs) just aren't meant for town driving and short journeys.
They fail and cost a fortune to replace.0 -
My company car is an Insignia. The clutch burnt out at 7,000 miles. It's gone again at 65,000. I've been driving for over 30 years and never before had a problem. When will Vauxhall finally admit they have an issue here as the cost of replacement is in excess of £1,000 and is not covered by any warranty?0

DMFs have been a problem on Vauxhalls since 2004/2005 with the introduction of the 1.9CDTI engine.
If they've avoided accepting responsibility for this long, i wouldnt hold out much hope.0 -
A mate of mine has a Citroen C4. Petrol, but it went through a phase of burning clutches every 8k.
Citroen walked out on any talk of contribution and he had to foot the bill. Every time the dealership would say it's down to his "driving style". What utter rubbish. Amazingly, none of them would agree to an offer to go out for a drive with him to point out exactly what was different about his driving style particularly.
Eventually another garage said it was a known issue, put it right and it's been fine since.
Moral of the story: Apparently a clutch is now as consumable as a brake disk! Who knew?0 -

The VX warranty system:
All new Vauxhall passenger cars are covered by a one-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty with qualifying repairs at no cost to you.
Years 2 and 3
The manufacturer’s warranty is extended for two more years up to a maximum of 60,000 miles.
Lifetime!
After that, Vauxhall provides a unique Lifetime Warranty, available to the first owner for an unlimited time and a maximum of 100,000 miles. is covered by VX for the first 12 months
The warranty covers POWERTRAIN and this should cover the clutch...the dealer or VX cannot say its a consumable due to the cost of the reapair being significant in proportion to the cost of the car....would you be happy to replace a clutch every year...err no...the clutch is part of the powertrain and should be good for longer than 3 years/60k I have seen other forums where the clutch and the DMF has been replaced within a year...its all about fit for purpose..I have an issue with my 12 plate at the moment and I GTee I get it done under warranty...
If the dealer and VX still try and get you to pay go through tradinging standards0 -
Was it an ex hire/fleet car?
If it was then 39k for a clutch does happen.0 -
