This should explain how to migrate IE's list of "favorites" between PCs:

A vista pc should still be worth a few bob.

if you don't wish to give it to a new owner, take the old hard disk out, and either fit it internally if you have the same connections, or buy a usb hard disk caddy and use for backup, after transferring the files/ favorites

Its got a lot of my personal banking info on it and while they are only links to bank/cc/catalogue pages i would be very wary about where the pc and its info may end up !
At least when i take it to our local tip i can see it go through the crusher while i wait !

just take the disk out, or factory restore using acer erecovery and wipe free space with ccleaner.

    Why are you changing it?

You can remove the hard drive, and stick it in an external HDD case/caddy to use as a backup drive.

The rest of the PC can be used by someone who really needs one... makes no sense to just destroy it. Everytime someone offers one on Freegle/Freecycle, there are loads of requests.

new pc has 4 gb ram and 1TB hard drive and i dont think i will fill that up with rubbish in my lifetime !
