2 hrs parking maximum in shopping complex

There are two different retail outlets where I live with various shops and both have a maximum wait of two hours, with no return. There is a roving eye that records the time in and out. I find this ridiculous when the shops have cafes inside them and quite frankly it is NOT enough time. If you were choosing a carpet or buying a kitchen from Homebase and getting it designed followed by a trip to BHS Home and Harveys, there is no way you can do this in two hours. Do they not want us to spend our money in these shops - it is stupid and surely drives shoppers away (literally) There is also a Pets at home with Vets that sometimes take ages when your pet is ill.
Should I write to someone and complain?

Absolutely, tell them all. And then do not forget to ignore the inevitable ticket and begging letters you get for shopping. Personally I find 2 hours is more than enough but then I am a male and do not understand the fascination with bags, tops and shoes. (yes I do have a wife and daughter)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Our local Council started charging for all their car parks yesterday.
Ok it's only 50p for the first hour but i think it's enough that many people will stop using the smaller shops and go to the Tesco or Asda. which is still free.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

i bet when you look the 2 hr max. is imposed by a private company and not the shopping complexes.
A lot of shopping centres across the country employ private car part companies and have have time restrictions. our local asda has just started to stated a 2 and a half hour limit.
these are a pain, but these are not really meant for true customers of the complex/stores, like our asda store, people will park their cars in their carpark then go off to the highstreet and not go into asda, so this takes up a space for an asda customer, these are a way to try and stop people doing this.
what would your reaction be if you drove to the complex to shop and found the carpark full of cars where the drivers had just parked their cars and gone off elsewhere and not visited the complex.0 -
The management have a problem, they have too many customers and want to get rid of some of the ones whom would spend thousands in the shops, solution employ a PPC and put a stupid time limit on the retail park.
Ah well, there is always the internet0 -
If someone gets a tickwet for overstaying an hour. well a letter to the management of the store/complex, and no acknowledgement of the ppcs unenforceable invoice seems OK to me. No loss no claim0

UKCPS lurk in our local B&Q I once had to take something back so I returned within their no return period. I asked to see the manager whilst on the customer services desk. When he appeared I asked him to sign the receipt saying I had brought something back. When he asked why I told him that UKCPS will invoice me for returning too soon. I then advised him that if they did I would pass the invoice on to them as they had sold me a faulty item.
He wasn't best pleased that I called him from his nice warm office, I just hope everybody else does the same. Maybe then they will do something about the parasites.0 -

Absolutely write to the Head Offices of the retailers and Vets and explain what you have done here. Make it a really annoyed complaint from a soon-to-be -ex-customer.
Tell them you have started to shop elsewhere and cannot believe they think it's OK to allow a third party firm of known parasites to carry out a protection racket on that land. Point out that you personally are not so stupid as to think for one minute that the firm have the authority to fine anyone of course. But say that you are horrified that they are allowing this unregulated bunch of cowboys to be let loose to send threats and lies about CCJs and Court to unsuspecting customers!
Finish by suggesting they may like to Google the company name and read some comments on forums about the legality of this practice and the sort of horrendous threatening letters they send out to people.
If the car park is never full then point that out. The private parking co are simply 'farming' the car park and pretending to sort out a problem which does not exist.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I saw a great sign in a Waitrose & other retail units car-park today, Max stay 3 hours, overstay and you might get a penalty of £40. The PPC was Britannia Parking.
Naughty Naughty Britannia.
And it wasn't the first time I saw "penalty" on a private car-park, on the sign by the barriers of a local college "unauthorised parking will endure a penalty of £40", didn't mention any PPC, but since it's barrier controlled I would imagine it will be done in-house.0 -
A Waitrose in Sussex gives out pieces of paper as you enter, with the time hand-written on them. The piece of paper says '£50 fine if you overstay', not really the sort of unlawful threat you would expect Waitrose to be handing as a welcome to each customer driving in!PRIVATE 'PCN'?
