We don't really have a choice where I live (rural) so use the only groomer round here, otherwise it's at least an hour's drive.

My Bichon Poppy (small, 5.2kg) costs £25 for the works, including claws and plucking ears if needed. She doesn't have a fancy Bichon cut with the powder puff head etc., just a nice short cut. Poppy is brushed every day so she never goes with a tangled or matted coat so the groom is quite straightforward.

However, my son has Poppy's sister and they don't brush her very often. She went the other day and were charged £35 because there was some matting to her coat which required more work and a longer time spent on her.

Actually, our vets also have a groomer there (but very expensive) - you could always ask your vet about groomers?

    Eeeek!! Please don't use PAH!

I use a local groomer, and he is fantastic. I have 3 poodles and they all go together, which costs £70, and they get the works, and they have a nice walk around the fields beforehand by the staff at the ajoining kennals.

I pay £25 at local groomer for my Yorkie, regardless of whether he has a full clip with just long head and tail for summer or skirts for winter. That would include nail clipping if he would let them :D

We were £25 for our beardie to be cut, nails done, wash & blow dry! It was going to be £30-35, but he gets brushed regularily so his coat was in good condition (no matts etc) so it was easier & quicker to do so we got it cheaper. It was a man in a van that comes to the house.

£27 seems expensive for a yorkie... We just asked for recommendations when we saw nicely cut dogs out walking - got some recommendations and most told us where to avoid (there is one notoriously awful groomers nearby where every dog, regardless of breed or what you ask for, get clipped all over really short - you can spot the bald dogs a mile away of the people who obviously just took pot luck out the yellow pages!)
