Just one question to the OP. Do you own the property that was damaged, or is it all provided to you from the council as part of your rent ?

I own it. The only thing in my kitchen that is council-owned are the cupboards. The worktops, washer-dryer, fridge freezer, oven, job etc are all mine.
  • frustrating & upsetting though it is complain & keep complaining officially until you are happy with the outcome. I work with vulnerable ppl & one had a problem with the chimney/fireplace. when it was repaired the contractors ruined the carpets - we got them replaced at full price. do you have any photos of what the kitchen looked like before hand?

  • Not great, what is the world coming to when we don't have any respect for other people and their things?

OP, just remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil so make sure you keep pushing until they do something about it. Get someone's name and call that person every day until they act. Keep records of when you called and who you called.

    Good luck

can you contact your local councillor (sp?) would they be able to do anything about their shoddy council workers.
BTW I have reported the to$$er in post #3 - if everyone clicks on the report triangle maybe he/she will get removed.

    Thanks all.
So far I've Complained to the council's tenant liaison officer, who forwarded me to SPI, who did the worlds worst investigation (asked the engineer if he did it. He said no, they considered this to be 'case closed')
I have now e-mailed their insurance department directly, who are investigating. I also e-mailed N-Power's CEO, who didn't give a sh*t.

The only item I have a photo of before the damage is the fridge freezer, as it was the only appliance that would be left in the kitchen and left uncovered (my hob was supposed to be covered by a dust sheet, and my microwave was only in the kitchen for an hour when there was no major work going on, but the engineer used it as a tool stand!)
I was told that the Tenant Liaison Officer had 'before' photos of everything, and I witnessed him take said photos, but all he says he has is a photo of the damaged fridge freezer (not date stamped) that he says he took at the start. However, after I complained about the damage, I caught him sneakily taking photos, so I don't trust him.
Also, my photo of the fridge freezer is not date stamped, but how would I get a picture of an undamaged fridge freezer after the damage? My fridge was only 4 weeks old when the work started, so it wasn't wear and tear either.
