Im going to America, and was going to take £500 of dollars and my debit card, but due the high nature of fees i have just started to look at the alternative (maybe left it a bit late)
anyway i have a fairfx card (which i dont really use, just got it for a ryanair flight last year), but this is a sterling card. if i top this up with sterling do i get hit for excessive charges? also if i happen to lose this, can i get the money transferred to another card?

If it's the Fairfx Anywhere card, you are charged the prevailing Masterdcard rate with a 1.4% loading for POS transactions + an extra £1 for ATM withdrawals.adencooled wrote: »Im going to America, and was going to take £500 of dollars and my debit card, but due the high nature of fees i have just started to look at the alternative (maybe left it a bit late)

If you intend to make a lot of withdrawals, a cheaper alternative is the Travelex Cash Passport Globe. If only purchases, the FairFx Anywhere is best.0
