Not sure if this works out at 50p for 2 probably more like £1 for 2 but it is one of our favourites and uses up left overs from the fridge/cupboard
frankfurter sausages - chopped ( could use leftover cooked chicken instead)
baby corn - chopped
onion - chopped
pepper - chopped
mushrooms - chopped
tin value chopped tomatoes
black pepper,salt
tomato puree - optional
garlic puree - optional
stir fry all the above in olive oil add tin value chopped tomatoes, black pepper, salt simmer until cooked through for about 10 mins Add to cooked taglitelle but could use any other pasta if wanted.
We sometimes add tomato puree, garlic etc for extra taste but up to you.
You also have the choice of using whatever leftovers you have in the fridge/ cupboard. Any way hope you enjoy. Its really quick for a supper treat.

This meal is a regular favourite at my table. I mentally thank my mother in law for it everytime I cook it!! Please do not use ordinary soup. I vary the amount of pasta depending on how hungry we are but it makes loads enough for 4 at least.
Macaroni Mush a la Enid
Ilb Minced Lamb or Beef
1 Onion
½ lb Macaroni
2 tspn Curry Powder
2 tspn Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tin Sweetcorn
1 Tin Condensed Mushroom Soup
1 Tin Condensed Tomato Soup
Peas
Fry sliced onion until soft; add curry powder, Worcestershire sauce and mince and fry until sealed. Add both soups from the tin do not make up. Simmer for ½ hour. Meanwhile cook Macaroni and drain.
Either cook corn and peas and drain and add to mince and then add all this to macaroni. Or Mix macaroni with mince and serve the peas and Sweetcorn separately.
I hope that you try it and enjoy it. Frozen Mince, Frozen peas, tinned corn, tinned soup a store cupboard dream. I often get migraines and even my kids or husband can manage to cook this!!
I hate tomatoes and my son hates mushrooms but we both love this.0 -

Cornbeef Hash
1 tin of corned beef
potatoes
cook potatoes, mash in with corned beef, I add in some cabbage so we get our vege intake and fried onions. Cheap, filling and my kids love it. And it is an easy meal to cook.
OR
1 tin of corned beef
potatoes
1 onion
1 table spoon of oil
2 cups of water
Boiled Rice (family of 4 usually 1/2 to 1lb of uncooked rice)
dice the potatoes, slice the onions. Fry (using the oil)the onions of low fire, add the dice potatoes then add the corned beef. I used to slice the corned beef first so it easy to stir it with the other ingredients. Then add the water and let it simmer. You can add some white cabbage or chinese cabbage cut into strips if your kids like them.
Boiled rice and corned beef!! Wow!!It's a meal for family of 4!!! :T0 -
When my children were little, a quick meal I used to do for us was:
Boil potatoes and warm a tin of peas, place on plate, warm a tin of oxtail soup and pour over. Very quick, cheap and tasty.0 -
I love these kinds of threads, especially when I have just got home from working and was tempted to order a pizza but instead cooked a v. simple dish:
pasta\pesto
Cook pasta, add pesto, enjoy!
OP: courgettes are v. expensive where I live, they'd push the meal over 50p
Haven't you got anywhere you could grow your own courgettes, even a pot on a patio or balcony? I grew 4 last year, but there were so many, I tried freezing them, but they aren't good frozen, so ended up giving them to the chickens!!!0 -

i absolutely love pesto and pasta....add some fried onions (or anything else) then add a bit of greek yogurt and it's gooorgeous!"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0 -
We had pasta and pesto last night with some cherry tomatoes and grated cheese. Your idea above sounds gorgeous.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Boil 200gs of value spaghetti, put it in a dish and put on to 1 tin value chopped tomatoes, heated, and sprinkle with grated value cheddar cheese, pop under the grill till it bubbles and is brown.
1 tin of value baked beans, fried egg and boiled potatoes browned in a frying pan.
Make a thick batter with plain flour and water + pinch of salt. Slice potatoes into thin rings and put them in the batter. Heat oil and when it is hot fry the potatoe slices in batter until brown. Great with baked beans, eggs, sausages, bacon, tinned tomatoes - anything really.0
