Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 02/06/11 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here again, shame I am off to work, dinner tonight will be fish steaks chips and beans :D nice and quick and easy.

Sainsbugs are delivering tonight, and I will do another wash and get it on the line.

Dad is going into respite tonight, at a house very close to where I live, mum is away to see her sister in Hereford for a break, I just hope dad does not play them up, he hates to be away from mum for any length of time.

Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Bright, sunny and warm here this morning. DH up and off to work, but not stupid early. Washing already on line, another load already waiting to be put out when first lot is dried, no more room on the line. DS2 has gone to SIL for a sleepover, will collect him on Sat morning, house seems really quiet with just DS1 at home.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, new potatoes from the garden, carrots, swede, cauli/broccolli cheese, stuffing, yorkshires and gravy - delish! Tonight's dinner will hopefully be a use up of LO, have some chicken, bacon, salad, potatoes, so am thinking maybe HM quiche, with salad, pasta salad/potato salad, jacket potatoes/new potatoes, tomorrow night I'm going to make a curry, haven't had that for ages.

Have the list of normal chores to be done, but want to get a start on the de-clutter, need to do this as want to list stuff on ebay (no insertion fees weekend this weekend). The not so urgent jobs will have to wait. Need to pop out to the butchers and PO at some point too.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    It's not 9am yet & I feel like I've done a days work already.
Hubby was dropped at the station with his packup, then I went to Tesco's as I needed white chocolate & cocoa to make some brownies today & another batch later. DW has been unloaded, it was full of all the platters & bowls I've been loaned to use during my handfasting feast. They are now clean & sitting on top of the fridge freezer wrapped in a clean sheet. I've swept downstairs but still need to sweep upstairs. I've fed my fish, watered my hanging baskets, watered next doors plants, fed next doors cat, cleaned out her tray & she needs grooming as she is very old & doesn't groom herself properly anymore, but I'll go back later to do that. I have a load of washing in the WM & a small pile of ironing to do. The sewing machine is all set up I need to make some more bunting, another 30 mtrs should do, name Dniece's PE bag, it needs embroidering in lazy daisy stitch on the front, not just a name tag sewn in. I have a cushion zip to repair for someone at work. & I've been invited out at 11:30, can't see me making that, oh well!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Glorious here again. Have a load in the WM waiting to go out. Will take my friend's dog out in a bit, he goes back later and I always miss him when he's not here. Other than that will go to the gym later. Feeling very lazy at the mo and don't want to do anything but then I am on holiday. Might do a bit more to the garden later. I really am better when I'm at work as I get far more done!

Tea tonight is steak for DS with HM chips, not sure what I'll have as I'm not keen on steak.

REDRUBY hope your Dad is ok
Hugs to anyone who needs one. Have a good day all.

Good Morning all I'm hoping to have a gentle pottering day today as yesterday I was in London at Hamleys with four DGS and DD and her OH and we walked the length of Oxford and Regent st afterwards so my trotters are in need of a little TLC I am out again on Saturday on a blue badge walk with my Uni class around Greenwich so more walking.Still it must be good for me as I slept as the dead last night .When we came home we took the boys out for a meal as Michael was 7 yesterday and his brother is 10 tomorrow so they had a joint meal. They behaved beautifully and every one in the resteraunt sang Happy Birthday to them.So today is going to be a resting day I think my eldest is supposed to be coming for coffee at some point, but I have cake in the tin so I shan't even be baking today .Just relaxing with my feet up and a bit of knitting.
Hope every has a good day it looks really lovely outside and the sun is shining over the Medway River which I can see from my study window.I might take a run over to Rochester tomorrow as my friend said she saw a book in 'Baggins' the second hand book shop that she thought she should have bought and wished she had when she was there but didn't IYSWIM. I am always doing that then I get home and think I wished I'd bought it.Have a great day everyone

Got a load of ebay parcels I need to package up tonight (worst job EVER!) and then H will post them for me. Did a bit of tidying up in the garden yesterday so depending on how I feel might continue that. No sweet treats so fancy making some brownies and some twinks (assuming I can be *rsed :o).

Tea tonight I think will be sausage and mash :) Kids can have the same too.

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.

Redruby - hope your mum has a nice time and your dad settles in OK x H has got the shoes so should be posting them today ;)

    Morning all

Bright sunny morning here. Hope it stays.

I need to have a rant about my trip to the cinema last night. We decided to take our son to the cinema last night - he is having problems with bullying at school etc, so took him for a treat. We used Orange Wednesday to save money. Well the first shock was that the car park cost £3.70!! Then we went to watch the 3d film Pirates of the Caribbean. Cost - £14.40!!!! When I went to 3d film last time it cost us £9.80 on Orange Wednesday. Now you need to pay for your 3D glasses, that's £1 each and pay a premium of £1 each for the 3D film. So the Orange Wednesday is just on the basic film, and what used to be part of that is now classed as extras per person!! I did complain to the lady, but she said that they wanted people to reuse their glasses now, rather than recycle glasses previously. Wished I'd known that before I went. It will be a long while before I take DS to the cinema again. I feel sorry for those who then bought popcorn and drinks for their kids - we brought our own.

Rant over! Hoping to get house in order today and do some baking.

    Enjoy your day

    Morning all!

My Kindle 3G is coming today!!!! How exciting is that? I have spent a couple of hours last night, and another today ordering about 40+ free books for it. It's a great thing as I have ordered books that I would never have dreamt of reading, like some by Jerome K. Jerome, Rudyard Kipling ( read them as a child and loved them). My sister had given me a £20 amazon evoucher as my birthday present, and I could order maybe 20-30 new bestsellers with that, never mind all my free books!

Other than that today, have to get out in garden and up to lottie with the kids and general tidying/ cleaning.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
