Just a Rant about a Buyer

Evening All, just want to vent some frustration!

OK so sold an item, buyer takes 4 days to pay, posted item day after payment through paypal & within UK a Friday) On Monday get a message from buyer Ihave not recived this yet, replyed could you please wait awhile longer and stated that i always give a full refund but ask to wait 22 days from when posted as this is what the PO ask before making a lost in post claim, reply - i'd rather have a replacement! message back reiturating what already said an that i did not have a replacement! Few days later message - still not recived, replied appolgies and that i'd be willing to give full refund after 2 weeks if still not recived, the deadline passed with no reply sent message asking if she had recived no reply day after, ebay dispute claim opened item not recived so i imediatley gave her a full refund = now a few days later she has left me neutral feedback saying I did not recive this item!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have asked in politest (without spiting fire!) to withdraw feedback

I've got over it now! Thanks for reading - just realy wanting to vent some steam it gets me wound up when i try to post quickly pack well describe acuratley Some people have no clue!

Unfortunately you kept your buyer waiting far too long; you can't expect a buyer to hang on all that time, hence the feedback. Its not the buyers fault its gone astray afterall - i know its a pain, buyers are fussy creatures but i always just think what i would want if it were me.

That's interesting, what length of time would you give to give a full refund after posting if claiming not recived?

I do try and stall buyers as long as i can, but say if i've sent something first and after 7 working days its not arrived, I'd be inclined to refund then. It also depends on the buyer, if they're getting ratty you're at risk of a dispute opening which you don't want. All depends on the circumstances, but 2 weeks is pushing it a lot in my opinion:o

What happens if you refund the buyer and then the item turns up?

Then it seems to be win win for the buyer & the scammers out there! maybe if there was a time limit on buyers being able to open an item not recived case within the time scale maybe to the PostOffice this would help, also i feel in the many years i have been selling i have had very few items not recived especially within the UK, also ebay can see the postage paid through Paypal, over the last few months i've had delays to the USA due to heightend security measures & most buyers have been really great and i had warned of the delays some of the parcels taking over a month to arrive! i have refunded a few! but am sure that they would have arrived at some point I had one buyer who had been complaing after 2 weeks then sent me an email saying she couldn't belive that the packet had arrived and that she had changed address since then - 4 weeks later to the USA! Oh well i think maybe also your right if the buyer is being funny after a week then refund because there are only a few-mostly buyers are Fab!

A buyer who claims an item is missing 1 working day after posting is clearly a scammer and will have that and many other Ebay items at home.

I had one guy claim an item was missing the same day it was posted. I said it cannot be missing on the same day its posted - he said "we'll see". 4 days later he put a claim in.

Ebays policy of turning a bling eye to scam buyers as made it a great place to get freebies - if you have no morals.

Thanks Techspec, it is good to get replys on this, as said have been selling for quite a few years small scale and it is rare to find buyers like this but what is there to stop the scammers creating many accounts different addresses claiming not recived after 1 working day! It's a joke!! their has to be a time scale limit & procedure to go through also being able to leave feedback from sellers to note this? and why should a buyer be able to leave neg feedback & open a claim when paid through paypal postage next day, they can see this? Considering the amont of money Ebay take per sale they should be more ontop of their policys & more supportive of sellers, but i make some money, they make loads they have no need!

I agree its very difficult to call it, but if you want buyers to buy from you you need to keep them happy - I'm surprised this buyer didn't open a dispute after being told to wait 2 weeks, which makes me think they were more inexperienced than anything else - and thats what you need to avoid. Disputes count against sellers now along with dsrs and negatives.

Whilst I think it is completely unreasonable for a buyer to start sasking about their item a day after payment I must confess that if i got any response from a seller that suggested I wait 3 weeks, or mentioned a Royal mail claim I would go straight to a paypal chargeback.

As a buyer there is no way that I would agree to wait 22 days. I'd reply to any such request with a statement that 22 days is too long to wait, and if I didn't receive a good answer, I'd start a dispute.
