Advice on a no show win please :(

Hi All, I won a pair of Christian Louboutins and a dress in a facebook comp a few weeks ago. The company in question contacted me and asked me to provide my postal details - which I promptly did. When the prize hadn't arrived after almost 2 weeks I contacted the lady who owns the company and she said they were sent to my adddress so I thought I'd give it longer in case they were caught in the mail system. Still no prize so I contacted her again last Friday, she said that she had put in a claim with Royal Mail and had posted replacements out that day by Recorded Delivery and I should have them the next day. With it being a bank holiday I wasn't worried when they didn't show on the Saturday - I am worried now though :( They're still not here.

Add to this that the website for the company is now closed and there have been no company posts on their facebook page since I won...... the emails between us on facebook have disappeared too and I didn't delete them so am wondering if she closed the ac!!!! that she sent them from - I now can't contact her by email and have had to resort to trying to contact her via Twitter. She's a very minor reality tv celeb so it's quite easy to track her on Twitter and she seems to use the account regularly but hasn't responded to my latest query yet.

I have been very nice to her about it but am losing patience after being so excited about my win to now wondering if they ever really meant to supply the prize. I have taken screenshots of the winners announcement and the comp with prize details in case the page disappears but can I do anything if they don't turn up?

From what I recall almost 300 people entered the comp and all for nothing. Advice would be most welcome xxx

Oh no ,..... I really hope you get it sorted....

I know recorded delivery doesn;t necessarily mean 1st class so it could still come later this week. I would contact her again via twitter and also consider going to the ISP. I don;t have the details but if you search ISP on here the details will come up as several of the MSE'rs have used them before - someone more knowledgeable will hopefully see your post and be able to give you really good advice....

Good luck getting it sorted and keep us updated - KJx

How awful, bet you are waiting for the postie everyday, hoping :(
fingers crossed it just turns up in the next couple of days but if it doesn't you could try
The Institute of Promotional Marketing, I took a complaint up with them last year about a prize that was not recieved (although i think they passed it to the ASA) and they had it sorted within a week!

Or we could all complain on twitter for you, strength in numbers and all that ;)

    Good luck!

I'm not being funny so please don't take this the wrong way, but aren't Christian Louboutins (sp) really expensive? Recorded post only cover you upto £32 or something so thats all Royal mail would refund her, so maybe thats why she has gone quiet. Definitely contact the isp though x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I'm sorry, but to me it all sounds a bit dodgy (apologies if it was actually a legit comp.)

Louboutins are very expensive... was it a well known company giving them away? Also, i'm quite surprised that if the shoes and dress did go missing that she was just able to pop a replacement in the post just like that?

I have had something lost in the postal system with a global company and they were really reluctant to simply put a replacement in the post without investigating details about where the item could possibly be. It took over a month to sort out. But, people are different.

I would have also thought that something as pricey as Louboutins would have been sent by special delivery?

I am no expert in any of this, so hopefully more experience compers can offer advice.

Hopefully it all works out for you x

Thanks for the replies everyone, yes it does sound dodgy :( And I seriously doubt if the first package at least was ever posted. Not sure if I can state the name of the company but here goes - Buu Bazaar (edit out or pm me to remove it this breaks any forum rules) and the lady who runs it won Tool Acadamy (a reality TV show) last year with her boyfriend. Louboutins are very expensive so it does seem strange that the wouldn't be sent more securely. This is my first no show of a prize and also the most expensive one I've ever won so I'm gutted.

I still think there may be a glimmer of hope that it could turn up but if not and she doesn't respond before the beginning of next week I will contact the IPM - not sure how to go about it but will suss it out.

There's nothing like the thrill of winning something - big or small but to then have it snatched away again makes you feel terrible. Thank you all for taking the time to reply xx

    Hi,

I have just been onto the facebook page and the post is still there, looks like she may have blocked you. might be a good idea if we start leaving comments about your prize, what can she do block all her likers!!!
What is her twitter name? we can send tweets to, this is far to good a prize to just let slip through your fingers.

I think its so naughty when they dont send out your prize, i have had a couple of wins like that but only small things, if it was as expensive as yours i wouldn't rest till i got it!!
Good luck anyway lets hope its resolved soon x

Gorgeous shoes, I'd be chasing them up too. The competition comes up here http://buubazaar.tumblr.com/ I'd copy the page in case you need it for the isp. Good luck.

If you go to http://www.buubazaar.co.uk/ you get this message The provider has closed this web site.

That does seem very weird that she can just put a replacement in the post especially due to the cost but can understand how disappointed you must be feeling. I entered that comp. too and was so glad when I saw on here that someone had genuinely won. I had wondered though, when I entered it, whether or not it was genuine as the prize seemed so good.

However I wouldn't let ito go. Keep us informed.

I too think it sounds dodgy, especially just popping a second set in the post which she just happened to have handy in your size...furthermore, when I had a wii prize from Paramount Pictures (a massive movie company) stolen because Parcel Farce couldn't be bothered to deliver to my address or ask for ID at the door and just dumped it with random people along the street, never left me a card and allowed a fake squiggle signature so the culprit wouldn't be identified...and they refused to help me resolve the problem, refused to deal with Parcel Farce and refused to replace the item.
