Finally, here is my S.O.A...

I pay £26 a month for my water bill for a 5 bed, 4 bath house with 4 people living in it, so I would say £30 is high. x
I pay £45 per month for a 3 bed semi (non-metered - property value about £110k). It would be circa £60 per month metered.
Depends where you live and whether you're metered or not.0 -

agreed - I think that sounds right. Did you contact your water company about a hardship/medical rebate?0 -

Hi Summer,
I feel u would be better advised to post your SOA on the DRO board. U seem 2 have fallen foul of the "benefit bashers" who post on mse. I'm currently in the process of applying 4 a DRO. With regard 2 your DLA award within a DRO it has 2 be entered in & then factored out. What people seem 2 4get is DLA IS given 2 u 2 spend on both u & your husbands medical/care needs. If u use it 2wards your therapies u are spending it correctly. So your income needs 2 be listed 2 include all benefits, then u deduct your DLA award. U should also be in receipt of free prescriptions as u are totally benefit dependant at present.
I'm concerned how close 2 the 15K threshold u appear 2 be. U must take action now b4 u find that late fees/admin charges/interest charges have tipped u over the top. Good luck with everything xI am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -
If you can just get that infernal Electron Card swapped for a Visa card, you could shop online and save about £150 p/m. There are 3 adults in my house, we pay £50 on groceries and £25 p/m water.
JSF23, your quote for costs for metered water must mean you are running your washing machine 24/7 and have 6 baths a day. Metered water means you only pay for what you use, and you can prove the run-off from your roof goes to a soak-a-away and not down the drain, your bill should be further reduced by around 20%.Never Knowingly Understood.

I'm sorry, I really don't post controversial statements but I really feel compelled to comment. This started as an interesting thread, I confess I could see the possibility of "trolling" from some initial posts so was appalled to read the scathing attacks on people expressing genuine concerns as to the validity of the post. It is important that we find trolls and discourage them from posting so that people in genuine need (as the OP appears to be) do not feel as though they will not be taken seriously on these boards.
It is also not exactly a subtle irony that the people accusing others of being judgemental are apparently quite at liberty to judge people who obviously work hard for a living and raise issues with OP shopping at Waitrose on benefits they are contributing to. I hope when looked at in this light that perhaps people won't seem so sure of their position.0 -

The poster has asked for advice, shes opened up her heart and yet people give her hassle and assume shes got the life of riley, I bet a penny to a pound, that the OP wouldn't have asked to be in this position, just like me, I'd love to turn the clock back 12 years and ask the driver behind me to hit the brake and not the accelator pedal and leave me permantly disabled........xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
So what's this thread then, a group hug?
No, however the whole shopping at Waitrose has been discussed to death. She has stated that she currently has no choice but to shop there. Why do people still feel it neccessary to bring up her shopping habits repeatedly??!:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0 -

I know, lets tax the country more, the benefits system is obviously not enough.0 -
Summer, urine good company. Just ignore the p1ss-takers, and you will find that there are people out there who will have gone through what you have and speak from experience.
Turn2 is a brilliant site for finding-out about any extra benefits you may be missing.
Also, get on to your Dr and pleg the heck out of them about being referred to a urologist to help sort-out your problem. They may also be the right people to sort-out the incontinence pants issue. After all, there is no reason why you should be paying for something you should be entitled to for free.Never Knowingly Understood.
