Broadband & Telephone Help Please

Options
Hi
I havent posted much but i am using the forums more now, more as a lurker really LOL

but im trying to reduce our monthly outgoings and we currently have BT telephone line with calls anytime which is good because i work evenings so my phone usage is always daytime but not very often (probably 2/3 times a week for an hour a time). Our BT bill is £13 a month.
We have AOL for broadband which is unlimited but very slow! That is £12 per month.

However, i was thinking i wanted to combine them into one bill with one company to make my life better and BT just quoted me £41 per month!!!!

Im just rather concerned as all of the companies ive looked into are more expensive than what we already have and BT already upped our payments this year.

Is there no way to save on this?

Do i need to consider stopping using the phone during the day? would that save money?

Utilities confuse me!

My husband has always been in charge of the finances up until we got into our IVA and now im in charge as im far more "strict" and we really need a new carpet in our hall stairs landing as it has become a hazard so im selling on ebay and carbooting and trying to cut down everywhere else.

Sorry for rambling! Any help would be great. :)
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

If you are on Anytime then you have unlimited landline calls anyway, so not using the phone won't save you anything. If you switch to an Evening and Weekend tariff then you'll save only £1.70 a month-as long as you make no daytime calls.
But if cost is all important, why do you want to consider bundling them to make it 'easier', which apparently puts the price up?
Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your LLU options.
Plusnet Value at £6.49 is probably the cheapest broadband deal, but it's capped at 10GB per month. However you can only get that price if you are on a Market 3 exchange.
Your monthly bill fom BT is already less than the standard line rental rate.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
