there was an article in this weekends Sunday Times where they tried a few of the hotel websites out to compare their prices on a specific hotel as an aexample of the spread of cost, might be worth a quick glance(I think the outcome is hotelscomparison.com and tripadvisor.com come out on top)

I always use https://www.priceline.co.uk when I come to London (2 weeks every month). I always, always get the 4* Hilton Metropole for £41 (+£7 website charge) = £48. This is less than 1/3 price. I recommend this site to everyone!!

[If I had to name a top 5 for hotels it would be

    1.) Alpharooms
    2.) Hotelopia
    3.) Laterooms
    4.) bestathotels
    5.) octopus travel

Please can any one let me know if they have used No4 'bestathotels'.. Found a great deal on there.
I have used many other web sites for hotels, but never heard of this one.
Just want to know if they are ok to deal with.
    Thanks

A few people have said about this website so I had a quick look. How much roughly do you take off their 'recommended price' ?

If say the price is judged at £70 for a 3star hotel in Nottingham, how much do you think I should put in .... £40, £50? I'm no good at this haggling lark *said in Life of Brian voice*.

Am I correct in that if your price is accepted, they take the money straight away, no choice to back out or change your mind? I realise that is the risk you take to get it cheaply but I just want to know all the pros and cons before bidding. I'm not sure it's for me as I really need parking (free or cheap) and breakfast preferably and I can't guarantee that here.

Do you think I would get it cheaper if I booked more rooms or just the one? Potentially, I could need 5 rooms.
Thanks for any guidance you can give.

the best sites I've used recently are:

https://www.tripadvisor.com which is an advice website, particularly good at rating hotels which seems to cover much of the world in depth. Their hotel rating system gives you access to independent reviews as well as any published review (with links). No need to register and very easy to check any hotel via their search facility. They even tell you the hotel ranking eg: 203rd out of 2605 in London. I've used this for the last few years, and they're spot on.

for cheap hotel room, last minute, I'd recommend https://www.priceline.co.uk (got this from another moneysaver and it was brilliant). stayed in the 4* millenium Gloucester London last week for £63.00 inc. (double room), and they even gave me an upgrade to a club room. Cheapest I could have got it elsewhere was £85 for a standard room.

As larfido said, look at both Betterbidding and Bidding for travel for information re Priceline.

Either start a new thread about what you want and I (plus I'm sure others) will help or PM me and I'll give you the skinny.
