Just out of interest, and a bit of fun what would be your top 5 recommended websites or companies for finding cheap hotels and/or package holidays
It would be interesting to hear other users views on what they find the best sites on getting the best value when booking their holidays. Lets face it nobody likes paying more than they should!!
For instance I believe that alpharooms.com are the cheapest for hotels
If I had to name a top 5 for hotels it would be
1.) Alpharooms
2.) Hotelopia
3.) Laterooms
4.) bestathotels
5.) octopus travel
Top 5 for package holidays
1.) Fleetway Travel
2.) travelcity
3.) expedia
4.) ....

I just come to moneysavingexpert.com !!
One place I do go, not to save money, but perhaps to save my holiday from ruin, is https://www.holidaysuncovered.co.uk
It's a free place where people like you and I can leave reports on hotels and destinations that we visit. You can score the place on location, rooms, resorts and loads of other things. The only downside is when you close the page, 4 others pop up but you just close them as well.
No need to register and no emails will come your way.Ken Livingstone is my mum0 -
I have loads of holiday sites in my favourites, as well as flights & car hire
http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk/
http://www.holidaysbyphone.co.uk/
http://www.opodo.co.uk
http://www.francehotelreservation.com - for cheap hotels in France
http://www.skyscanner.net - for checking prices of flights
http://www.cheap-car-rental.com - consistently the cheapest car rental site
Travel city is usually pretty cheap too, but they're not in my favourites0 -

All of the above are inavluable resources but tripadvisor is my favourite. It doesnt find you the cheapest deals but stops you booking a dodgy one.The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0 -

Many people forget about Holiday Autos when recommending car-hire. We've used them 4 years on the trot and they have always been competitive (you'll always find cheaper, but for peace of mind (and a UK phone number "in case" of complaints on return) I'm happy with Holiday Autos.
Checked tonight...
Alicante airport
9th August 2005, for 7 days
Fiesta/Clio 4dr A/C (economy/CC class)
https://www.cheap-car-rental.com £113
https://www.holidayautos.co.uk £106
Saving £7/week - even more for 2 weeks/larger cars
Mondeo 1.8 A/C (intermediate/G class)
https://www.cheap-car-rental.com £265
https://www.holidayautos.co.uk £227
Saving £38/week (spend £14 of this on their "insurance excess protection" for peace of mind)
https://www.carjet.com are also competitive, although I've never used them.

I've used each of the following and found them to be reliable and competetive.
Do not use the bidding sites without first reading the info on
http://www.betterbidding.com/
Hotel bidding UK http://www.priceline.co.uk
Hotel bidding USA http://www.priceline.com
http://www.hotwire.com/
Hotel discount coupons USA http://www.roomsaver.com/roomsaver/
Hotel discount - general http://www.accomline.com/
Car hire USA http://www.usrentacar.co.uk/

Hope these are useful to someone.0 -
www.holidaywatchdog.com is also good for hotel/resort reviews“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
