Hi. Ive got a BT line and Sky anytime phone, BB and TV packages.
Had it like this for several years. Now thinking of retaining BT line and moving my BB and anytime phone stuff to BT , leaving Sky with just TV.
Have looked carefully through Terms and conditions but cannot find anything relevant to MY obligations with regard to leaving ie notice etc.
BT who called me to offer what sounds like a good deal for the above, insist I have no contract with Sky now Ive been with them (Sky) for a few years , but I want to check for myself obviously . Please has anyone a link to consumers leaving parts of Sky,and what to watch out for to avoid any penalty pitfalls. Thanks.

    Although you are out of contract with Sky you still have to give them at least 28 days notice (may be 30 I'm not sure.) best thing is to ring them and ask them.

    The only pitfall I can see is that Sky will waive offers in front of your face to keep you, so be sure that you want to leave Sky and tell them so.
    make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
    and we will never, ever return.

    Thank you McKneff. Ive been reasonably happy with Sky. Only reason Im leaving is that they dont include 0845 etc numbers within their BB and anytime tel package . If they offered me that Id stay in a heartbeat, but Im more likely to get offered upgrades like Sky+ or more channel packages which Im just not interested in . Wonder why they cant do 0845 like BT . Reckon theyd keep lots of people that way .

    I'd look at your LLU options before moving broadband to BT-many cheaper and better options.
    Go to https://www.samknows.com and do an exchange search.

    Hi macman - Thanks for that link. Do I need to actually commit to joining that site to use it? Not too hot on computer stuff , so I had to look up what LLU options were too! I gather Im looking to find a company thats geographically close to me for best results?
    Actually , since I posted last , Ive decided not to go back to BT . All the horror stories about customer care put me off, and when yesterday the BT SALESMAN didnt even bother to keep the appointment he made to phone me to discuss the change which Id said I was probably going to make back to BT, that finalized my decision . May well look at that Samknows site though to see just what else would be available should my Sky slow up too much! Thanks.

    No,you just put your phone no. into the exchange search page-no need to join anything-they've nothing to sell you.
    LLU=Local Loop Unbundled.
    No, you can use any company you like-the LLU providers are mainly national, but not available on every exchange. Broadband is exchange-specific, which is why you need to start with samknows to see who is available on your exchange.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
