Refusal of copy of agreement

Can anyone help me with this one.
Following the advise on the MSE site I started the wheels in motion for my PPI claim. I wrote a letter to Egg who in turn replied they are not obligated to send me a copy of the expired credit agreement. Any suggestions on what I should do? Are they allowed to do this?
I tick all the boxes, loan expired less than 6 years ago, I was self employed, sold via the phone etc so I think I have a good claim

Well done for starting the process off. The first bit you have done is correct and yes they will say they cannot give you the information.
The next thing to do is request what is known as a "Subject Access Request" and put this in writing to their complaints department. Part of the request above is that they MUST by law provide you with all details relating to you and their company that they have on file. They will charge you £10 for this service (but if you think you have a strong case which it sounds like you do from your post, you should go ahead with it, small for big gain). The address to send it to them is below.

you should have a response within 40 days ( and again this is a legal requirement).
At that point you will have all the details you will need to submit a claim for PPI refunds.

Edit: Remember to add the £10 cheque in your letter and make sure that the letter is send signed for (not necessarily next day guarentee thingy) so you have proof that you have sent them the letter and they must action it.

I have also started the PPI process and recieved aletter refusing my credit agreement ,thanks to the forum adice I will also request a SAR and will keep the forum informed.:beer:0

Just written my SAR and look forward to posting that recorded delivery tomorrow. I must admit this PPI reclaim is strangely addictive, knowing the shoe is now on the other foot, PRICELESS!

Cannot believe it was really this easy!!!!
Well having joined the site only recently I was not really sure if it was going to be worth it. Having taken the advice of all the helpful and lovely people on the forum, as well as downloading the template for Loan PPI reclaim, I have had a great result.
I was claiming for a loan with Egg, which ended in 2006, as I was self employed at the time I thought I would have a good case to reclaim.
Initially I submitted a request for information on my loan and was refused. Luckily I had kept a statement so I knew exactly how much I had paid etc.
I was told by one of the members to request a DSIR (Data Subject Information Request) which I did.
What I am most amazed about, is the fact that I did not even get the chance to say I had been mis-sold PPI, when a cheque dropped through my door.
I am so pleased with this result. It is like they did not even contest it and paid up without me asking! Happy Days
It was such a good feeling to get one over on the banks
I got a cheque for £1381.31 which included compensation and interest on the initial £824.17 PPI payment :j
