Hyundai Coupe

Options
Hi everyone

I wondered if anyone has any ideas?? I purchased this car yesterday via a private sale. Its down on the log book as coupe F2 and is a Y Reg, registered May 2001. When I've gone to insure it the insurance company think that its an import as the F2 model only goes up to 1999. I'm really confused.

I have an EEC certificate of conformity with the car and its date stamped 18.5.2001 by DVLA Shrewsbury saying date of reregistration.

I've spoken to previous owner who reckons the confusion is because when it was first new it was on a private reg plate.

Can anyone help??

Thanks

It may have been a showroom car that was parked up for a while , you need the date of manufacture .

what does the log book say
    read it carefully
    probably come from northern ireland
    maybe isle of man
    possibly jersey
    or Cyprus
    my moneys on cyprus
because why would you have the stiff cat?
    reject
  • How can I find out...on the EEC certificate it gives a date of 13.04.2000

Really confused as insurance reckon my premium is an extra £500 per year if its an import
  • I haven't got the full V5 yet just the new keeper supplement. On there its down as Coupe F2 however on the back of the car it says FX. I've spoken to DVLA and they cant confirm if its an import they just said they've got it registered first time as 18.05.2001 but couldnt confirm if it was new at that date!! Lots of receipts from 2001 with my reg number on

im a bit confused too because obviously you paid a deposit, you did an insurance proposal and it comes back 10 quid a week more than you budgeted
so the worst scenario is you lose your £100 deposit and tell the seller its mis described and your day will be in court
i cant imagine for one moment you bought, it drove it home and then went insurance trawling
  • I bought it from ebay and was listed as SE gen 2 so had done insurance quote based on that. I got it home and noticed that the wheels were 17 inch alloys so rang insurance to tell them that and they picked up from reg number that although its a Y reg 2001 was saying that the car was only made until 1999 as on new keeper supplement states that it was F2 and not SE. Also badge on back of car says FX

I am so confused I paid £719 for it so don't know how I'd stand if he's sold it on false terms as model that it obviously isnt.

he probably knew it was an import, the private plate excuse is a good indecation, he baught it couldnt insure it knew he couldnt shift it without hideing its true status.

from memory the FX model is a EU import, and depending on country it came from they vary in specs greatly. i would bang my money on it being spanish oragin.

its clear misrepresentation of the vehicle, contact the seller and ask for him to refund you. if not contact ebay, and go the court route.
