Is it worth spending money on a foundation primer?

  • Definitely it is worth using a primer if you use foundation. That might sound a bit daft, but most of them are clear and if they do their job will smooth your skin so that when you put your foundation on you have a better base. If you don'y bother with foundation then your skin will feel better, but wont look any different.

My Smashbox primer is the only one that actually keeps my make up from sliding off. Best tip though is to always make sure your moisturiser has sunk into your skin before you apply your primer or your foundation and make sure you do moisturise, even if you have oily skin. Otherwise your skin will simply drink up your make up leaving it looking patchy or non-existent.

I know I posted a couple of weeks ago, but they still have them, Just Beauty Direct have a clearance on the Mini SPF primers which is a good deal.

I also tried the MOM tip from Glowgirl, and it really works. Have been meaning to say thank you!
  • Another vote for MoM here :) For me the winning combo is Morrisons Knock Your Spots off moisturiser (sure I've raved on MSE about this stuff before :D - I buy it because it's non greasy and sinks in really well), followed by Revlon Colorstay foundation, with the odd dab of Revlon Colorstay concealer if required, then a light dusting of No7 translucent powder on my T-Zone. This combo is so far proving pretty much indestructable until I choose to remove it, rather than it decides to remove itself from my face of its own accord :D

  • I've tried three different makes of primer and haven't liked any of them. They didn't make my face look any different or my makeup last longer. Just my humble opinion.
