I have just bought No7 matt primer with my £5 off voucher and hate it. I feel like I am wearing a chalk mask and my face is white! I want to just take it back and get my money back - what do you reckon my chances are?

I think your chances of getting you money back are very good, Boots are very reasonable if you tell them the product doesn't agree with you and why, I used to use the same product years ago and remember it being dreadful if you used to much, it used to come off in white lumps and show through make up as streaky, the key with this one would be less is more if you want to give it another go before you return it, thats why I like the Milk of Magnesia because its a liquid its more controllable but again less is more until you find the right amount for you.

While its on my mind I think you should always return beauty products that you are not happy with I used to work in Harrods for one of the top skincare brands and we always refunded or replaced and acted on customers feedback so I don't see why others shouldn't do the same - good luck:)

eta- sorry just realised you used the voucher so I'm not sure if they would just give you a replacement for that - still worth a try though:)

First time i've heard of this, great tip, i must try it.
Do you just apply a thin layer with cotton wool or something?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. It was just a £5 voucher and I still have my receipt so just want the difference that I paid. It is a horrible product so I will give the MoM a try!

Shake the bottle very well, apply some to a cotton wool pad and apply on your T zone or all over if you are very oily, use a very thin light layer, it might take a couple of goes to get the right amount for you but less is more otherwise it just flakes, you can also use a thicker layer as a face mask once a week or so, you can use MoM every day if you choose but it can be quite drying so it might be an idea to give your skin a break every so often - hth:)

The No 7 product you have is based on MoM as are most oil absorbing bases but its in a cream form with added extras, most of which you probably don't need but its supposed to make it more appealing to the customer, theres nothing glamorous about Milk of Magnesia:rotfl:but its more controllable in liquid form and of course much more:money::D

I bought the No7 one last week and love it! My first primer and I wish I had bought them before.

I have really oily skin so bought the oil-free one. It does feel like polyfilla when I first put it on though but that wears off quickly. I use mineral power foundation on top so together they feel light enough, but I am too happy with the results to worry about it.

I will try MoM next time then, once this runs out though. Didn't realise that was an option.

    Thanks.

Pop a little bit on the back of your hands (clean and dry) and use a finger on your other hand to pat/dab it on.. that's how it is recommended by No7 consultants. If you rub it on it will stay visible and leave a 'cakey' feel as well as white powder marks.

Hope this works.. ps you can take it back when using a no7 voucher. You can either exchange for another no7 item and pay/ get refunded the difference. Or have a straight refund minus the £5.

Product £10, you pay £5 + voucher.. take it back you'll only get £5 back :D

I'm currently using the lanacane anti-chafing gel as a primer. I have oily skin and I don't think it stops that but it does seem to slow it down.
