When I moved into my place, there was a small brick pond, about 3' x 4' x 18"

Well, it leaked, so we drained it and drilled holes into the bottom of it with a view to trying to grow something in it at some stage. Anyway, we never got around to it, but instead I've been putting winter leaves and all my buddliea tree and garden plant prunings into it, along with f&v peelings.

I covered it completely with empty compost sacks turned inside about a week ago, and weighted them down, lifting a sack up when I want to add something. Will that be enough to turn it into a usable compost for next year or am I going about it completely the wrong way?

Last year I made a 'tumbling' compost bin out of a bigish 'chutney tub' with a lid. Drilled a load of holes around it. Was filling it with kitchen scraps and rolling it around garden to mix, was working well.
Then stupidly enough, I added my pumpkin after Halloween and it went horrible, really mushy/smelly so gave up with it.
Finally plucked up the courage to empty it ... really dreading it ... and found it had turned into compost, a little on the wet side, but it had worked.

But as of this week, I'm now the proud owner of some pet worms/wormery. So excited, can't wait to start feeding them properly.

Is there a 'wormery' forum on here ???? Been hunting but not come up with anything as yet.
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D

That certainly looks the business Caroleuk - well done you! :T

Re my above post - can anyone advise if I'm going the right way about it please?

I removed all the sacks this morning and turned it over with a spade (don't have a fork) and then poured water all over it before covering it back up. I've no idea if what I'm doing is right, but it smells rank, which I'm guessing means it IS starting to decompose.

I'm unsure if it actually needs to be covered though
