How to bury a pet...

Hi,
Overnight I lost one of my budgies, and now I need to bury her. I have buried other birds in the garden, but lately there have been foxes prowling around and I don't want them to smell my little Charlie and take her. There's no way I'll dump her in the rubbish.
Is there anything I can spray over the grave to keep cats, foxes etc. away! I thought about bleach, but I don't want to use such harsh chemicals if there is something better.
Thanks.

Could try. Never thought about that! I expect the funny noises I'll hear tonight will be all these sneezing foxes...;)Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Oh no!
Would putting him in a box first work? I don't know really. Or a piece of chicken wire/mesh over the box so if they do try to dig they can't? (A bit like putting bulbs under mesh to stop squirrels digging)New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j

Dig at least a foot deep, firm the ground well afterwards, and put a large stone over the top for a few days, just to make sure.0

when i had to bury sooty, my cat, i dug as deep as i could, made him cosy in a box and put the box in a strong polythene bag and didnt have any bother with animals trying to dig it up, take care x0

sorry to hear that. I lost my cat earlier this year and we buried her at the edge of the patio. Hubby dug a hole so there was 18" of earth over her which should be enough I think to deter most animals0

Biodegradeable bags and cardboard boxes are good. Shoeboxes are good for a small animal.0
