    Apparently apples are now on this list for me - or at least being very careful when & where I buy them.

    I wanted 1 apple yesterday - I'd really have liked a Cox's but they seemed very expensive yesterday at Mr M's so I went for the cheapest per kilo and picked out a single apple, and didn't really think anything more about it .... until I looked at my till receipt later and discovered that single apple had cost me 54p!

    I'm still reeling from the shock.

    You can buy a bag of Cox's for £2 in tesco - 6 or 7 in a bag, but cheaper by far are Gala at £1 for 6 or 7 in Asda.

    I think you may have been overcharged!

    I normally buy a bag of Tesco value apples, if you look on the label on the front it'll tell you the variety. There's normally approx 6 apples in the bag for about 80p. The last bag I got were galas, 6 for 80p, the other bags of galas were £1.80 for 8!

    cake - mostly homemade but can't make custard slices yummy yum yum

    Hi,when we were kids my mother use to open a packet of cream crackers,then make a pan of very thick custard(let it go cold)then spread it on the crackers (Very thick like you would a custard slice)then top with a plain cracker then ice the top.you have to eat them fairly soon after making other wise they go soft.We thought they tasted like a custard slice from the bakers.:rotfl:

    Thanks everyone, I woulda if I coulda but I live in a small town with only Morrisons and Co-op and no market. It's a 20 mile round trip to Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Lidl, and the market(which I can't buy any medium or more weight of goods cos it's too far to parking or bus stop for me to carry).

    I only wanted 1 apple not a bagfull although if I'd realised what it was going to cost me I would've bought the bag of small apples and tried to get through them. I wasn't overcharged (except in so far as the apples were overpriced per kilo) - it was a very large apple.

    I miss being able to just go for a bath!! Nowadays I think first of the cost of water and heating it.

    I have just realised that subconsciously I have also stopped using the bath unless I have become so cold I need to be thawed out. Even tonight when it would be pleasant to have a good soak, the cost of the extra fuel just stops me in my tracks.

    Aldi cereal is nicer than other supermarkets - their special K with red berries is much nicer than the real thing - with more berries! Fruit and fibre is good too.

    £20 for a shower gel:eek::)

    I thought i was going over the top with a half price one from the body shop! I do ask for nice shower gels and body lotions for my birthday / christmas and often they last most of the year, but if it were £20 i'd be afraid to use it! :rotfl:
