I think we're in the same boat as everyone on here with regards to things we now can't have at the drop of a hat. When I was with my previous (2 earners no kids) we lived it up. It's shocking how much we spent. Now with wife and 5 kids (eldest working but still don't want to take board- rather she helped wife out: I know how hard it is doing all mundane stuff) we're having to watch every penny. Went to the fair and the kids could only have 2 rides each - £2.50 a ride !!!!!!!
 We have to limit juice, alcohol (thankfully fully stocked from Tesco DTD), caronated soft drinks;
Fish and chips is a no-no
No steak, fresh fish or fresh exspensive berries or veg.
Cheap petrol (lol cheap my eye!) and oil etc in car. Never use car wash now.
Cloths, make up for wife are always from Grabbits.
Joint for Sunday has to be reduced or special offer.
 No more red bull
 No "Finest" anything.
 Butter is now "I can't believe it's !!!!".
Bacon is a luxury once a week.
 Pies from butcher - same
But, we do OK. We are going under though so you'll be seeing lots more of me on this board! The wife's always on here getting ideas but it's about time I stayed of the Grabbits and came on here. So here I am.

I now go to the hairdressers about three times a year, down from the previous four times. Oh, and I have dry trim rather than the wash, trim & blow dry that costs about £23. The modern trend for dead straight hair has served me well. Comes to something when DH spends more than I do on hairdressing!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0

I wonder how many people pretend they toiled for hours knitting them themselves!
This woman actually does because she always has knitting on the go when she is in between customers.
I knitted all of my kids cardis and jumpers when they were small and now I have five great nieces and a Goddaughter so I am knitting them some Arans for Christmas.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Only occasionally but I sit & read them when I take son for his haircut too:D
:rotfl::rotfl:daddy now cuts the twins hair, DS3 hasn't got to that point yet but i'd say he'll get his firsthair cut at the hairdressers then it will be all daddy lol
i got my hair cut once last year and that was just before xmas and i havent been since, i told hubby i was gonan just get a dry cut soon because i really need it and he said don't be so silly you can afford to get your hair washed, til i pointed out it's £26 for a wash cut and blowdry but £7 for a dry cut, i can wash my own hair for £19
anoteh rone for me is a bubbly bath, i love a roasting hot bath u know the type where u come out red raw (bad for u i know but so lovely) however the boiler in the house is tiny and our heattings only makes it lukewarm so we need to put the water heater on and it will only 1/3 fill the bath before it goes cold, then you spend 20 mins filling it up with kettles then you run the rest of the hot water in to get a half decent bath, that will be cold in 10mins it does my head in and prob costs a fortune is elec (we don't pay water rates thankfully) i really wish we had gas and instant hot water DEC GC £463.67/£450 it does my head in and prob costs a fortune is elec (we don't pay water rates thankfully) i really wish we had gas and instant hot water DEC GC £463.67/£450

I think for me the obvious is chocolate, both from an MSE point of view and a WW one! Currently in my cupboard, there's a bar of Mr T's 30p cheapy that I break a little off every so often. That was frugalised down from the curly wurlys i was eating, but while they *are* cheap at between 20-25p a bar, 30p for about 6 portions is definitely better
"Grabbing a sandwich" or similar when out - especially subway... I had a major subway habit before - and was spending a fortune tbh. Now if I'm really hungry when out but due to come home soon I'll see if I can find a piece of fruit (under 30p, often a lot under) or if I really have to have a sandwich, then its a £1.30 prawn mayo at Mr T! Sooooo not ideal, but better than £3 odd at subway!
Hairdressers I haven't been to in AGES. Luckily my hair is relatively long (mid length? Past my shoulders anyway) and doesn't really show that it's gone without a cut for so long, especially when straightened. Like others, posh makeup is out! MAC etc used to be my staple, but now it's more ELF, 2True (try that stuff, it's amazingly good for the price), MUA etc.On the up

As far as avoiding the sandwich swindle I've taken to always having a few disposable spoons in my bag - that way I can buy a tub of yogurt from a supermarket to eat. Works for me as I'm hypoglycemic so have to eat protein and avoid eating carbs alone, plus means I can usually save pennies as well as calories. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

I'm now on 'value soft spread'0

I don't wash my hair as often, I keep it tied up as soon as I've washed it, it stays damp longer and the wash 'lasts' longer0

I like to get a paper on weekdays & Saturday (don't usually bother on a Sunday) &,up until today,I used to get the Daily Express at 45p (35p with the token.Well,I've switched to that new paper 'i' which is only 20p weekdays & 30p on Saturday, although I expect the price will increase when it gets established.
So,the Express was costing me around £3 a week without the coupon, this new paper costs me £1.30 a week, saving me over HALF what I was paying for the express.
Which means more cat food for Daisy!!0
