Tradesman not collected his money

I had a quote for a tradesman to do 3 separate jobs at my house. He finished 2 of them in one day and then said he would phone me to arrange a day to do the other one. That was 2 months ago. I've rung and left messages on his answerphone, texted him and my OH rung and actually spoke to him, he agreed to come and do the job 2 weeks ago, He didn;t turn up and hasn't contacted me since. I only have his phone number, not his address so I cant even send him any money for the work he did actually do. Whats my position on this? I will have to get someone else to do the 3rd job, but what if he doesn't get back to me for the money. I've made efforts to contact him but is there a cut off period when he would have to write it off.

Ring him once more and tell him that if he cant come within the next seven days then yo will get someone else to do the job.
If you dont hear from him, put the money that you do owe him to one side (he has 6 years to claim it)
Get someone else to do the third job.
Simples....................make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No there isn't really a cut off, but it's his responsibility, not yours. He could be ill, having a domestic crisis, gone bankrupt-who knows?
Try phoning him and leaving a message saying that you'll be getting someone else in to finish it, and if he wants paying for the work done then he needs to get in touch. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I was out walking the dogs this morning and he passed in his van. I flagged him down and he's promised to call & do the job tomorrow. Mind you he's promised this before and then made all the usual excuses, Dad ill, he was ill, had to take son to emergency football match. This will be his last chance.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

His 'last chance'? I don't quite understand your attitude to this. He's done 2 jobs for you FOC so far-you're the one in the advantageous position. if he doesn't come back, get someone else to do the 3rd one and you're still the winner. No free lunch, and no free laptop

He obviously doesn't want to do the third job. So much so that he's willing to dismiss the money from the other two. Keep the money and get someone else to do the third one. If he turns up for his money one day pay him. If not.....buy some new shoes or something:)
I must say that not being able to pay someone for work done is not something that would worry me. You've definitely tried so don't worry about it.0 -
My concience won in the end. He did turn up & although the 3rd job no longer needed doing, I paid him for the first 2 jobs. I wont be using him again though.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
