KC registration?

Thanks Suki1964. She is such a beautiful girl it would be a shame. I agree with you, she is probably not KC registered even though I have all the relevant history of her parents. I had no idea that I had only a short time to register her - I know, ignorance is no excuse!0

Oh gosh, didn't realise she was a shep. No, please please don't breed from her without all the checks, and preferably the checks from her parents and grandparents. GSDs were/are notoriously overbred, it took me a long long time to find a breeder who had done the checks back as far as I wanted to go to get my Oakley, and even then, looking at him, sometimes I do wonder about his hips!
I know so many people who have had lovely pups, only to find that a year or so down the road (sometimes less), they are faced with huge vet bills and a lame dog due to poor breeding practise. It's heartbreaking to see both the owners and the dogs. I made a decision to have mine neutered, despite the fact that he is a stunningly handsome dog, with great bone and all checks done way back in his ancestry, but I felt there are enough GSDs around, and I'm just going to enjoy mine as a pet.
Incidentally this http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1762 will give you all information regarding registering your pup. It is the breeders responsibility to do it and if I were you I would go back to the breeder and ask where the registration documents are so that you can change ownership.0 -

I think what people are trying to tell you here is that you can not register your pup with KC as the breeder should do it. And if it was not done - must have been for a reason.0 -

Also, I only want to let her have 1 litter, I am not getting into breeding. I have enough interest from family members to have her breeding for about 5 years so will not be adding to the growing population of abandoned dogs. If I did breed her and everyone backed out of having a pup, I would end up with a much larger family!
The papers I have show the lineage of both parents going back a number of generations.
One deliberate litter IS getting into breeding, the best breeders only produce a litter or two a year anyway and many don't make a profit. If you know of people who can provide a loving home for a puppy please suggest they contact a rescue, healthy dogs and cats are being PTS and rescues are closing all over. There are many breed or cross breed dogs in rescue, including German Shepherds. Can you afford pre and post natal care if something goes wrong with the pregnancy, an emergency c-section or mum rejects her pups? Are you willing to choose between the life of your dog and her litter? Much of this is not insurable and I imagine heartbreaking.

Before you decide to "just have one litter" - have a look at those poor dogs:

Oh dear.....so lets see- let's assume all pups find homes and every one of the new owners breeds from their pup "just once"....and so on.....
Anyone, I mean ANYONE deciding to breed from their dog IS adding to the growing population of abandoned dogs. Immediately or in the future.
Just look at the link above to GS Rescue please.0 -
I have checked, her parents have full KC registration. Even with that, I will think long and hard before even considering pups - thank you everyone for your advice and comments.0

So is she registered or not? The breeders should have registered the litter with the KC. Have they said why she is not registered?
The parents may have KC registration - but they may also have endorsements on their registrations preventing them from having any registered offspring. Have the parents had the relevant health tests? What have the breeders said about it?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

Jazzyman - you seem to be very confused about the whole thing and not understand what a few people on here are trying to explain to you about KC registration. Just because both your pup's p[arents are KC regiostered does NOT mean your pup would authomatically qualify for registration too. If it did - it would have been registered already, by the breeder. If it is not - nothing YOU can do to get the pup KC registered as for one reason or another (despite both parents being KC registered) the pup does not qualify for such registration...0

I do understand - unless the breeder has registered her I cannot and I cannot do anything about it now even if I got in contact with the breeder.
I may not have explained myself fully. In part I was responding to a question about whether the documents were KC - which they are. The fact is that I would not have let her have pups to make money - wanted one for myself and then friends.
However, comments on this thread have made me rethink this. Thanks to all.0
