Rip Off Car hire in Spain-Automotive car hire

I Hired a car through Economy Car Hire on a full/full fuel policy.I picked up the car in Malaga at Automotive Car Hire. I returned the car and was told that the gauge showed 5/8th full and not 6/8th full.
When I questioned this the employee at the desk said I had paid and signed for a tank3/4 full. When I picked up the car the gauge had shown 1/2full I felt that this would not be an issue. Huh! The girl demanded 10 euros for the 1/6th of petrol and when I disputed this she said she would take it from my credit card.
I also failed to see the connection between 6/8th and 3/4, or how the exact amount could be verified by the girl, whose name she said was Patricia' ;this information took time to get with the situation becoming more and more difficult and centered around the `Complaints Book which I asked to have access to in order to write a complaint.
The situation was very embarrassing and in front of a number of other people from the UK.
I feel its important for all those who have experienced problems with Car Hire companies in Spain to `air their complaints in order that the UK companies who give business to Car Hire Companies to put pressure on them to stop this `rip-off` which seems, especially in Malaga, to be a widespread scam.

6/8 = 3/4
Well it did when I went to school...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Did you manage to enter it in the Libro de Reclamaciones ?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

i used automotive in december last year and was very happy with them. don't want to be "wise after the event" but if there was only half a tank you shouldn't have signed for 3/4 of a tank (although I appreciate that you took it back with more than you picked it up with). you're lucky you didn't get slapped with an extra refuelling charge over and above the cost of the fuel they think they were owed.0
