10 things you should never buy again........................

Ice creammaker lives at back of cupboard
    Coffee machine ditto
    Meat slice ditto
A very large pan thing, ditto
George Formangill ~ ditto, now carbooted and sold

All a waste of money here in this house.
I use my ice cream maker, but its too small, so if yours is bigger then we can swap and mine will take up less space at the back of your cupboard...

what on earth is a sauce maker???? in my house a sauce maker is me and a pan :rotfl::rotfl:

i think the spices is acually refering to the packet mixes you get, altho i do completely agree with this i love the sausage casarole one and keep soem peppercorn ones because there simple, and i only buy them on offer

i would also normally agree with the pasta sauces, but i got loads of the 20p sauces a few days ago which is cheaper than making your own

i guess with lollys atleast you'd know wats in them

frozen veg is a must in this house, we keep bags of mixed vegs for side dishs, then bags of peas and sweetcorn to add to casaroles, the only fresh veg i buy if either reduced or carrots and onions

but i do agree with making yoru own burgers, lunch pots and cereal bars

I think it's all a question of striking a balance; yes, it's great to be able to prepare everything from scratch, and ne'er shall a packet of cuppa-soup darken our door,:D but at times, life bowls us a googly, and it's useful to have a quick solution to fall back on.:o Just my two-pennyworth.;)

I agree LW, we all shop to suit own circumstances so these kinds of lists are a bit pointless really.

OS isn't about slavishly following some arbitrary set of rules, its about dealing with our own circumstances as we see fit. I don't buy prepared veg, mashed potato and ready meals but I know a young woman who has ME, if she had to prepare all her meals from scratch I think she'd probably starve :D

thanks for an interesting thread Amelia, can I ask where you foumnd the article you quoted please? ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I should have known that nothing in your house was safe from eBay for long ... Are the cat and OH still in residence, or have you listed them :p

I have a smoothie maker, I have used it three times. (it was a pain in the bum to clean it!) I have a coffee maker (one of the pod ones) never bothered with it (kettle works fine!)
