LOL, we make our own brandy butter and have some left, but it didn't stop me picking up 3 tubs at 10p each yesterday that had been YS! In the freezer now.

    Hello

I picked up 3 pots of Brandy Butter reduced to 10p each last night.
Apart from dolloping onto warm mince pies (which I have done, twice:rolleyes:) what could I use it for?

I also picked up two packs of what I thought were Taste the Diffence burgers but turned out to be pork, apple & date stuffing (down to 50p from £3). Its the fresh kind and I've frozen it but wondered if it could be tunred into a meal? I thought of meatballs but just can't imagine what sauce would go with the apple and date element?

    TIA xxx

    Hi ellas,

There's an earlier thread with ideas for using up brandy butter so I've added your post to it to keep the suggestions together.

    Thanks pink - winged :)

Braed and butter pudding sounds good. Good to know I can freeze it too. Think I'll also make a christmas crumble using brandy butter in place of normal for the crumb topping..that should work i think ;).

    Thanks :)

I have been given a jar of brandy butter. It looks as though it was quite expensive. I have tried it on Christmas pudding (still have some left!) and mince pies, but find it much too sweet on these already very sweet foods. Any suggestions for alternative uses? Thanks in advance.

Add some more brandy a little at a time and beat it up well. Keep adding until it won't absorb any more. Bought brandy butter never has enough brandy and it makes it terribly sweet IMHO.

I've just turned mine into a boozy pineapple cake and will let you know how it turns out.

It turned out really nice, I had 100 gms of brandy butter left and the recipe called for 150 gms of butter and the same weight for sugar, so I guessed that the sugar and brandy would have weighed about 25 gms so used 75 gms of butter, all the brandy butter and 120 gms of sugar.

I can't really taste the brandy in it and it really didn't make a difference to the texture. HTH

Thanks for this I will try it in some baking recipies too. I used a little up last night. I had some leftover puff pastry so made a strudel using fresh cranberries and pear stewed in sugar and a little brandy butter and dotted the top with more brandy butter. was very nice. my New year diets going really well too
