Hi, I know this is an old post from Rachie77 but i recently graduated and for my first year and a half of uni HSBC wouldnt give me a student account coz i had such a bad track-record with them. I thought I had no chance at getting a student account, untill I tried natwest and got approved straight away. That was in my 2nd year and they immidiately gave me a 2nd year overdraft the only thing they didnt do was give me the student railcard you normally get when you first sign up (as thats for first years) but that didnt bother me. Dont give up, just try a different bank.

Try your university's Access to Learning Fund. They can sometimes give you loans for various reasons, or give you grants for other reasons. But they are willing to help with debt problems in a lot of situations. And you could also try talking to someone in your student Advice Centre, they're able to contact corporations and negotiate for you, including things like paying bills.
