I wonder if someone can help - does anyone have a "normal" phone number for this ***** firm so that I can phone, the phone gets answered by a person, and they can (I hope) at least attempt to help?
Briefly, my daughter has NTL and has moved - the plan was that she kept the phone number of where she's gone for a few days (as NTL were installing a new comp and couldn't actually do any work last week  ), and then she'd get her new line and number.
The phone has now been cut off for a week, she cannot get through to them with her mobile phone as they just keep hanging up, (no arguments or anything - as she got through to an operator, they hung up)and I tried for an hour and a half last night on my landline. They hung up 15 times, (same thing - no arguments or anything like that), once I got to the section that covers Wales because I called from a "Welsh phone" apparantly - (I live in Sussex and she lives in London - not sure what bit of the phone was Welsh........duh!!)
Finally, I got someone in India (I think), who said he couldn't help as customer services couldn't sort out putting a phone line on, even though it should have been on, the new computer system installed by NTL didn't work, he was stressed, and he was new at the job etc., etc.,........(why do I always get these people????  )
I requested that someone PLEASE phone my daughter on her mobile so that they could sort out what's going on - and was told they didn't phone moby's.....aarrggh!
I've tried their webpage, but all contact mail links close off so you can't EMail.
Hope someone can help - she's got her phone, broadband and TV on a package and is quite happy with being with NTL usually - we're just at a loss to know how to contact these people and get some help. She really needs her landline phone, for various reasons, and this is a nightmare.
If we could bypass the not-so-helpful helpline number and perhaps get someone with half a brain at least, it would be great.
Gawd - I used this firm years ago and went back to BT - last night reminded me why I did that.
They are fine until you actually need some help from them.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Hi
Quick update - despite us all talking and writing to a multitude of people about this, and 3 actual appointments being promised faithfully, they still haven't actually turned up to do this.........
The last promised one was friday afternoon, but then when he also didn't arrive, my daughter was told that he'd gone home early, as it was Friday.......
She has a senior manager (allegedly) dealing with this, who keeps saying that this time it'll be ok, then it's not!
She has no phone, no internet and no TV - this whole thing is totally nuts.
It was all supposed to have been done on 3rd December:mad:.......... and we're now at the 18th and nowt has happened other than we all need a mortgage to pay our landline phone bill and her mobile phone bills!
We're all off on a short break this week, so she has a relative staying at the house, as NTL are supposed to now be coming on Tuesday (yeah, yeah), but I've advised her to go back to BT as soon as she can - they do cost more, but NTL are the company from hell and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
Total crap.

They finally connected the phone etc., yesterday (21st), which considering it was supposed to have been done on the 3rd, was pretty poor even for this dross firm.
Anyway, thanks again for your replies, and hopefully I will never have to deal with NTL again!
After Butlins, I think all I need is a drink (or 10) and a rest.........;)
