Under ebay t&c, if a zero feedback bidder wins your auction you have to sell the item to them. Simple.

I have had completely the opposite experience to the doom and gloomers above - most zero feedback winners of my auctions (been on ebay 7+ years, had over 1500 transactions - mostly sales) have been extremely keen to pay promptly and keep up good communication, unlike many 'seasoned' ebay buyers who seem to think it fine to wait a couple of weeks before posting a cheque with no note to say what it's for ... despite clear instructions in my invoice emails!

In fact, count your lucky stars if a new user is bidding, they are probably more likely to get carried away and bid higher than more experienced ebayers, so you could well end up getting more for your item!

    Hi guys,

I have a item on auction via Ebay which will be ending on tue's night. However, a zero rated bidder is currently winning the auction. He/she has been a member of ebay just under a week, and I have no idea of what to do if that person actually wins the auction! Should I still sell to that bidder or can I sell to next available bidder (who currently has 4 positive ratings)?

any tips/solutions will be more than welcome!

    thanks

Just out of curiousity...when you started buying on eBay.......what feedback did you start with???? Luckily for you, most peole are more trusting than you appear to be.......................or you wouldn't now be able to ask questions like the one you posted................

  • ive had huge problems, many don't pay. But then many with lotsa of feedback don't pay, its all equal

    I don't block anyone, i started on 0 myself.

These threads, along with the postage is too high moans are my favourite
  • Sorry but I fail to understand the issue here. If they win the auction they you wait for them to pay. If you haven't heard anything after 24hrs then send them a reminder. If another 24hrs goes by then threaten a FTP being filed with Ebay and negative feedback. And if another 24hrs goes by then follow it up and tell Ebay you want your listing fee and final value fee refunded.

    SC

Blimey.......within 2 days you start threatening your buyers....and within 3 days you go running to eBay for a refund/return of listing fees??!!

Let's just hope none of your buyers ever have a computer breakdown, family illness or some other problem that keeps them away from the computer for a while.............................. :-)

  • Mm805, is it a particularly expensive item you're selling, and/or a type of item which tends to attract scammers, saboteurs etc (e.g. a mobile phone or Wii)? At this time of year, many Christmas shoppers will be using eBay for the first time. If you haven't set any buyer requirements on your auction, you aren't entitled to pick and choose which bidder to sell to afterwards. I'm sure you'd be fuming if you were a genuine new buyer who won an auction only to have the seller refuse you the item. The winning bidder in that scenario would most likely to complain to eBay and leave negative feedback.
If you're at all concerned, you could send them a tactful message saying that, since it's so close to Christmas, if they end up the winning bidder you'd like them to pay immediately after the auction if possible, and asking if that's OK with them and what payment method they plan to use. If they win, send an invoice asking them (nicely!) to complete the Checkout procedure asap.
  • Unfortunately zero feedback bidders do have a higher rate of non-payment and not reading advert details. I now ask all zero feedback bidders to confirm their interest by e-mail. If they don't reply you can then decide if you want to remove the bids. If any winning bidder does not contact me within 7 days I start the NPB process. If they have responded after winning but don't pay within 14 days I start a NPB process. We all started with no feedback but some are a real pain.
  • Everyone has to start somewhere!

I have only bidded twice on ebay - the first item I won and paid for it and the second I did not bid high enough.

Give new ebayers a chance please.

just email them and ask how they intend to pay...you want a smooth transaction etc.... It usually works for me.

I have had more issues with established buyers/sellers than 0 rated ones!
