what do to when a zero rating bidder wins your auction?

Hi guys,

I have a item on auction via Ebay which will be ending on tue's night. However, a zero rated bidder is currently winning the auction. He/she has been a member of ebay just under a week, and I have no idea of what to do if that person actually wins the auction! Should I still sell to that bidder or can I sell to next available bidder (who currently has 4 positive ratings)?

any tips/solutions will be more than welcome!

thanks

  • Sorry but I fail to understand the issue here. If they win the auction they you wait for them to pay. If you haven't heard anything after 24hrs then send them a reminder. If another 24hrs goes by then threaten a FTP being filed with Ebay and negative feedback. And if another 24hrs goes by then follow it up and tell Ebay you want your listing fee and final value fee refunded.

  • Hiya

I have been reading this forum avidly since I only registered on Ebay approx 4 weeks ago and wanted to make sure I kept clued up.

I also have a current bid from someone who has only registered this week and as it is not an expensive item I feel fairly ok about it. I tend to think "well we all have to start somewhere", but I maybe would be concerned if it was for an expensive item.

    Good luck

Wait for payment, if you do not receive it after 2 weeks I'd be inclined to give them a NPB strike, 2 more of those and they will be suspended and think twice before bidding on anything they do not want.

in my experience of using ebay (5 years and 2000+ feedback) i have found that the majority of 0 feedback bidders unfortunatelt don't pay for items they win. I do not find it happens as much now since I set up my bidder requirements though. I used to get loads of non paying 0 feedback bidders and ended up with a few retaliatory negatives too :(

If i am selling an expensive item then I ask 0 feedback bidders to contact me before or after bidding to confirm how and when they will pay, if they do not contact me then I contact them and ask, if they do not reply after a few days i will probably cancel their bids. The way i see it, if they can't be bothered to reply to me then they probably aren't going to bother paying. I don't think it is fair to wait 10 days for an auction to run to be won by someone with 0 feedback who doesn't pay, and then have to wait another 7 days before i can start the unpaid item dispute and then another 7 days to get my final value fees back - 24 days in total from when the auction started, when i could have just sold it to someone with decent feedback who would pay within a couple of days.

If i am selling something fairly cheap then it does not bother me that much, especially if it is something i am not sure if it will sell or not, if it is won by someone with 0 feedback then there is a chance they will pay, if not then i relist and try again.
  • Strange - I was once a 0 feedback and I paid for my winnings. I expect you all did too? How else are you supposed to start? Imagine if everybody refused bids from 0 feedbacks?

As I said I only refuse bids from 0 feedback bidders who have bid on expensive items and not replied to my messages.

They are more than welcome to bid and pay for any of my other items and i will leave positive feedback for them asap once the transaction is complete

How do you block 0 feedback bidders? I thought you can only block bidders with -1 or less?

Or do you mean you remove their bid and then block them?

Everyone has to start somewhere and not all newbies will back out. The same can be said for high feedback bidders. Not all of them pay either. We have had just as many problems with high feedback as with low. Just the way it goes...!
  • Mmm...... the story so far.........

Woud you sell to a Zero feedback buyer......No
Would you buy from a Zero feedback seller......No

Looks like a Catch 22 situation here.

Ebay is doomed, no more new buyers no more new sellers!
