HSBC have screwed me hard!

They need to tell you when and how you made these requests to close the account. Also if this was in person or online I would see if they had signatures or IP addresses at the time of the request.
I assume you have been paid the money that was in the accounts when they were "closed"? If this was a scammer they should also have the bank details of where the balance was transferred to.0
