Can I ask an opinion please?

Im thinking of an idea for my grandparents for Christmas and I have just had a brain wave that they don't see me and my kiddies much anymore as we live quite a distance apart.

Well she has seen holly once I think and she is now 10 months old so I was thinking for Christmas of making her a scrapbook with pictures of the kids in it.

My son is a keen footballer/rugby player and is a very active part in the community so have plenty of pictures of him and things he has been doing and been up to, and can add a few in of my little girl holly as she has been growing up in her stages that my nan wont have gotten to see but Im sure she'll enjoy and if I leave a few pages blank at the back she has a few pages to make/add her own memories with them too.

My son was presented a medal for his rugby tournament and he has presentations coming up for both events soon so can get a nice photo of him with his certificates too in his smart suits.

What do you all think??????????? any other idea of other things I can add to it?

since you live a distance, apart, when i was faced with the same challenge, i got a digital photograph frame (roughly £20) and 2 memory cards that way i could add onto one and post it to keep them up to date, MIL posted back the one she had, shame there was no one near her we could have emailed as it would have made it easier

i know some like to sit and look at hard copies though,
  • can anyone please give me any ideas for a present for my dad and step mum.

They have just started keeping chickens in their small garden and I always joke to my dad that I will start calling him and his wife 'tom and barbara' soon so I was thinking of a 'good life' inspired hamper for them both.

Can anyone give me any suggestions as what I could put in it? I have found a BEWARE OF THE CHICKENS sign for them though already.

What a lovely idea, I would love a 'Good Life' hamper! Will put my thinking cap on for ideas for you.

Veg growing too but only a few bits and pieces this year. Although I think its more my dad than his wife as he is the cook in the house too.

Thinking maybe some nice gardening gloves that I could embroider onto for him or a gardeners toolbelt.
    Time to find me again
  • Love the idea of the embroidered gardening gloves, the toolbelt sounds nice and practical. Maybe the hamper itself could be some sort of planter and add some seeds that would be suitable for that size and easy to grow like salad leaves or similar. My friend grows sweetcorn for her chickens and some other things too so maybe another idea. How about some gardening or chicken themed mugs , I got a nice set for my friend quite reasonably with a bone china mug and matching coaster. Will keep thinking today for more ideas as might do something similar for another friend of mine!
  • Christmas 2011 will be the start of many new Christmas traditions in our house, thanks to this great site.

We will be having elves visit our children and I have a few activity packs that I purchased in the sales in January, I purhased new stockings that I have had embroidered with our names and I am aslo going to do our 1st Christmas eve hamper.

This year I have started to look at my family tree, my nan found some lovely old photos that I have scanned and I would like to make a mini scrapbook for her and also get her a digital photo frame. We dont live near each other so as mentioned in a post above I will get two memory cards and update (brilliant idea).

I have purchased a few bits and pieces through out the year from the sales that I have tucked away in a box ready for Christmas, mainly items from the book people that come into work, they have some great offers.

I have a note pad especially for Christmas ideas/gifts/to do etc, it is on the coffee table next to me now, I will be adding a few ideas from this thread to it in a moment.

For my other Nan, I would like to make her a christmas advent hamper with bits and pieces in, like hand cream, body spray, body lotion, bubble bath etc, I always struggle with ideas for her but hope this will be something she will like as it will be all everyday items she uses. The other idea I had was a 12 days of homemade christmas hamper, containing 12 homemade items including chutney, fudge, cranberry sauce, picked onions, mince pies etc.

I have subscribed to this tread and some other christmas ones too, which I look forward to reading and finding ideas for Christmas, it's never too early to start planning for Christmas I say!

I've done this for presents for relatives and think its a lovely idea. I did them a photobook online , used some money off codes, you can add pictures and text.
Argos are doing a money off offer at the mo , and you can get your photo printed onto alsorts of gifty things, I've got my sister a crystal memo/photo stand with a picture my DD1 drew on it.

Hand prints are lovely to add to a scrap book or pictures the kiddies have drawn. HTH :)
