Can I join you?! You all seem so organised! I'm going to get my confessions out of the way........I haven't started thinking/sorting Christmas!! Phew now that's said I think I need to get organised!!

I was made redundant in march and at Christmas will be 39 weeks pregnant! We are just about managing on DH wages (just about and no more actually) so Christmas needs to be done on a budget! Not a very big budget either!!

I am quite 'crafty' and scrapbook, etc so I'm hoping this might help me out a bit. I'm starting present number one today, I'm making my Nannie and Granda a scrapbook. Already have a vast craft store so this present will be 'free'

Can anyone give me the kick up the bum I need and any tips how i can make this Christmas a good one with very little?

Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!

As has been said many times on such forums ... Christmas is what you make of no matter how much (or little) you may have. As long as your around the people that mean something to you it can't be bad.

What you give / receive as presents shouldn't the thing that matters. The fact that you thought enough of someone to actual give them a present should be present enough.

Let's face t the present giving / opening only last 20 mins before it's over anyway!!

Congrats on the little one ... Next year will be brill with them him/her around (I'm looking forward to my little mans first Xmas this year ... He'll be 10 months)

I've just ordered my first Xmas pressies! Current Avon catalogue has Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas new perfume priced at £15 with free body spray and purse spray, plus a sample of Lacroix Nuit Perfume or some Anew face stuff. Have ordered 2 of those, one each for sis and SIL.
Am at an absolute loss what to buy for Mum - £50 budget and was going to buy her some straighteners but she's just bought some herself  She says just buy her some slippers but I cant just buy her slippers... anyone any suggestions? She doesnt drink and sweeties are out of the question as shes dieting. I've just bought her some Paul Smith perfume and some earrings as she won Woman of the Year at her Slimming World group plus its her b'day next month so I'm really struggling!!

  • Mrs_Ryan-I'm at a bit of a loss with my Mum too. I'm thinking of maybe getting her a digital photo frame as she's always putting up photos around the house. There's a good deal on them in Tesco at the moment.

I really looking forward to Christmas as my LO will be 14 months :)

Im always stuck for ideas for both my parents! They have a digital photo frame and bought them both keyring ones from our girls last year. My dad buys anything he wants anyway so can never plan ahead for him lol! My mum doesn't ask for anything, have done hampers in the past though. Maybe you could do that for your mum? Plenty of smellies/candles and bits to go with her slippers :) HTH

My LO will be 12 months on xmas eve, can't wait!
  • Am i too late to make christmas cake and pudding. If not does anyone know of any good recipes? Thanks in advance.
  • I can't really recommend a recipe but i have read about the idea of making mini xmas cakes in baked-beans tins. They look very cute - might be a nice idea for hampers or individual presents. If you google it I'm sure you will find ideas :) HTH
  • Any suggestions on what I can put in a hamper for a 13 year old boy? I have bought a dvd & a beanie hat so far and a really lovely basket, which he will be able to make use of later. Was thinking of shower gel & deodorant, but not a clue what else. He is growing so fast I can't keep up, so don't really want to go down that route. Any ideas gratefully received.
A smile costs little but creates much :)
