Upgrading to Sky HD - Best Deal?

Hi

Over the next month I am looking to upgrade from Sky+ to Sky HD and am wondering the best offers out there?

At the moment I only have a fairly basic package, but am looking to add Sports and a few of the smaller packages

I have previously in my Sky history had the full package for about 7-8 years, dont know if that will help me haggle?

Cheers

Tim

Self install is free with the HD sub AFAIK.

Last offer I saw (for those who already have Sky+) was a free (self-install) HD box provided you take the £10.25/month HD pack for 12 months.

However, the first 3 months HD pack was free.

EDIT 31/5/11 - the above was on a flyer within the June Sky magazine which arrived today.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I don't know what sport you are into, but if it was me I'd would phone up Sky, see if they had any deals now the footy season has finished ie 3 months sky sports free or half price? if the haven't got any deals then phone at the beginning of the new season and see what they have then.

I personally wouldn't want to pay for Sky Sports when there's no EPL on Sky, but each to their own.

What does self install mean? Do you just get your new box delivered, take the leads out of your Sky+ box and stick them in the back of your SkyHD box? Is it as simple as that?

Yeah, not bothered about getting SkySports until August, so wouldnt necessarily get that straight away. Just depends if I get any better deals by taking it up straight away

Essentially yes, they send you a handy setting up leaflet.

Are you actually wanting to subscribe to the HD package? Or do you just want the free HD box so you can watch the free to air channels?
