My partner and i live in seperate houses but spend as much time as possible together, I live close to my elderly parents and my work, and it is an arrangemnt that suits both our needs, my incomes has dropped sharply in recent months ( i am self employed) and i am probably eligible for working tax credits but do we count as a couple as my partners income is a lot more than mine, thanking you in advance

Whilst you consider yourselves a couple the WTC form clearly states you are classed as a couple if 'you are living together as a couple' you are not living together as a couple, as I see it, this could enter a grey area if you spend more than three nights in a row at one or the others home.
I would say the answer is no.0 -

Argh. Again with the "x night rule".
Ivo, I can see you are new here, but you need to know that there is no x number of nights people can stay, its much more complex than this.
The questions to ask yourself is :
1) Do you have joint things together? Like bank accounts? Savings? Bills? Holidays?
2) Do you do things together like a couple? Eat together? Shop? Go out?
3) If you knocked on your neighbours door would they answer that you have a partner? What would they say? What about your work? His?
4) Where are birthday cards for you put up? Your place? His?
5) What clothes/belongings does he have at yours? His?
6) Where is council tax / electoral role registered?
See, its a whole round approach. The x night rule is a myth, pay no heed to it.
I know we are talking about tax credits here and not IS, but a DM I used to know said "Where a woman keeps her contraception and feminine bits is her home". Crude, but you get the point.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -
the three nights in a row is a total lie, that is a made up rule, so please disgard that.
I certainley dont think your a living couple, as soon as he gets bills or accounts in your address then it changes.0 -

The amount of nights spent together means nothing.
OP, you need to ask HMRC this question - they are the only ones that can give you a definitive answer.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I would agree with 'no'. You need to be living at the same address i.e. bank accounts etc are under the one address.
You may however still qualify for WTC., under your own right. But you will need to tell them 'change of circumstances' if it changes to just the one address.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -

I stand corrected
thanks, guys.
The number of nights was only included as a cravat, I still stand by my statement that the documentation clearly states 'living together as a couple' which it appears you are not.0 -
