Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 30th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!

Looks like I'm first this bank holiday Monday yawn.gif
Woke at 5 and just got up. We are all going to 3 or 4 car boot sales today, so I wanted to get up first and have a cuppa in peace and make flask of coffee to go.

I have already got soup on the go in the SC and dinner later will be HM fish n chips.

Have a good day whatever you are getting up to, and I will come on later and tell you if I found anything exciting!

Rosie I hope you find some interesting stuff at the bootsale.
I need to do a bit of last minute tidying up in case the inlaws decide to visit, I swept & cleaned the floors yesterday. I shall make a cake or some biscuits too.
I need to do my roots too, my hair grows very fast so it will need doing again the day before my wedding. I'm on half term break now so I'm going to buy all the drinks & dry goods tomorrow, I emptied our our savings tin, where we'd been putting £1 & £2 coins towards the reception & there's £130 in there.
    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

    Good Morning All

Hester - I love saving £2's they add up quickly.

Had a really lazy day yesterday, and I mean lazy - did nothing but cook dinner  I had planned this though so today is going to be a doing day - big time.

Just about to jump in the shower and head to our Bank Hol Market - OH needs a new pair of steel toe cap shoes and they are very reasonable there. Then going to pop into town for a birthday present. Once home will be in my office for a few hours getting some of the horrible filing jobs done. Then will attack the ironing pile. Phew......am tired just typing about it :rotfl:

Not sure what is for dinner today, havn't menu planned for this week yet - another job to add to the list.

Have a great Bank Holiday whatever you are doing.x

Good morning Rosie, BB, HH, EG and all to follow.

BB - the photos are lovely, thanks x
HH - well done on your savings tin. Enjoy half term:)
    EG - don't overdo things
Rosie - Hope you get some good bargains at the car boot

Most unusual day for us today. Going visiting and will eat out or have a take-away, so will not be at all OS.
Well, we'll take tuna melt with us to have when we take a break at the motorway services. We like our version better than the ones you can buy there - hugely cheaper and we use home grown spring onions in ours :)

Happy Bank Holiday Monday to you all.
Hugs to those who need or want,
    Cheers m'dears, Silver x

Morning all, managed a mini lie in this morning whilst the boys were watching TV so I got my book finished. Tomorrow we might have a friend visiting, so today will be spent clearing and cleaning up! Not that I live in a hovel, but with two children.....

Yesterday had my neighbour over for lunch - so I did roast beef and banoffee pie - YUMMY. Then the boys and I finished off the banoffee pie for tea. OHs uncle emailed over a pic of my MIL yesterday - and as she'd been ill for so long I'd forgotten how mischievious she could be. Realised I'm really going to miss her. Will get the children to sort out some of their toys that they don't play with to donate to my mums neighbour who has a younger boy.

Todays lunch will be a battered tin of soup or beans that the boys picked up, whilst dinner will be cold roast meat with home made chips and salad grown from my own windowbox!! No tomatoes yet, but I did notice a red strawberry on my plants - YIPEEE.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Hi all

Well yesterday was a blurr!! Made 80 Angel Food cupcakes and roasted 20 chicken drumsticks ready for our picnic today. We are all going to Eden Camp for the day today. I've never been but apparently I'll love it. Some of the Angel Food cupcakes were killed in the crossfire last night as everyone insisted on trying them (more than once) so they got the seal of approval and we still have a huge box of them to take with us.

It's been pouring down throughout the night and is still raining now but we won't let that put us off - we're British!! I think I inherited that mentality from my very OS parents. When we were kids we'd go on bus trips to the seaside (no car) and NO MATTER what the weather, we would have out picnic on the beach. I still remember sitting on a cold, extremely windswept beach, being sandblasted and eating SANDwiches. WE ARE ENJOYING OURSELVES! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

esmf73 - I couldn't help thinking of Hannibal Lector when you said "Yesterday had my neighbour over for lunch". :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

bargainbird - love the pics of the chooks - I would love to be able to keep chickens but sadly not enough room in our mid-terraced back [STRIKE]yard [/STRIKE]garden.

Sorry if I've missed anyone but loving thoughts to all (especially Daisy cat)

    Morning all

No gale here this morning thank goodness. Took DS and his friend to see Thor last night, I try and do a cinema visit when I get paid as a treat. Enjoyable fluff, problem with having a boy is that you end up watching loads of bloke films. Good job I was always a tomboy ;).

Not sure what to do today. Need to bake some bread. yesterday I took header tapes and some linings out of some old curtains that are going for recycling. Have a list of sewing jobs to do and I'd rather do them all at once. Also need to check the garden, fix a fence panel and pot on some veg plants. Might have a bonfire later. Roast beef for dinner.

Off to have a bath and hairwash and then I must sort myself out.

Have a good day all, bug hugs to anyone who needs one.

Ahem....Swansea City supporter here! ;) Come on Swans! :p

Another wet, windy miserable day here. Woke up at 7, been reading in bed.

No real plans for today. Need to sort out some bits to Ebay, and have a look at my finances. I vaguely remember when bank holiday weekends equalled drinking all hours...I must be getting old, I've spent this weekend cooking, cleaning and sorting :rotfl:.

OS wise - emptied DW, WM about to go on, laundry from yesterday to be put away, need to hoover lounge/kitchen.

    Have a good day all
