Am i Stupid lol?

Options
Hi,

I am looking for a bit of help or guidence, really, in regards to what we could claim, as we have a made 2 claims and been told not suitable.

I am the main earner in the house bringing home net wage of £375, @home there is common law partner, who claims only family tax credit @ £110 mth and child benifit @ £80 and our 3yr old son.

My partner has made claims for JSA and incapacity benifit as she has been diagnosed with severe anxity, she went un diagnosed for over 12mnth suffering from panic attacks when we were in public or she was in work, etc and not be able to sometimes to simple things, her doctor recently diagnosed this as anxity and signed her a sick note for 3month, and perscribed her anti-depressents, this week dose was increased as first lot not helping her. my partner is unemployed and She wants to get back into work but finds it so hard getting out.

Both claims have been sent back and the dwp advising that she is not entitled to either, from reading info on here, it says that anxity is a mental illness and DLA can be claimed but dwp have said we are wrong.

We are struggling on my wage alone now, and have run out of ideas ourselves of how we can help ourselves, is there anyone on here who be able to help/advise us further?

Any help we greatly appricate.
thank you,
andy

Check out the link for info' on DLA, your partner may be entitled due to needing someone with her when outdoors and/or in unfamiliar places:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Disabledpeople/DG_10018702

You can apply online or phone up for a paper copy. It's good to ask your partner to start keeping a diary of her mobility/care needs which will help with form filling.

Your partner may be able to claim contribution based benefits if she's paid NI in the last 2 tax years.

When did your partner last work and is your tax credit award based on your income only?
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

    thanks 4 reply,

according to the criteria in our eyes we should be elligble.

will ask her start keeping notes, didnt think of that tbh, she came out of work last april. tax awards are on my income only, as partner has none.

    thanks.

Why do you think she will be entitled? Having meds prescribed means nothing. it how your (or her) daily life is affected and you will need to show why she needs help.

she would only qualify on mobility side of dla, cause it is very rare she can go out on her own.

she went to doctors on her own the other day and had a panic attack in the waiting room. toatally agree with wat u say about meds too, but it took us 12mnth to persusade her that there was a problem, she thought it was normal acting the way she was.

Although obviously she should claim if she's really eligible, I think that you should also look at your spending patterns. With a take home income of over £1,800 pm, living in an inexpensive area like Wrexham and with only a small family, you really shouldn't be struggling financially.

This could be a contributory factor in your partner's anxiety and might well be helped by taking charge of the problem rather than just throwing more money at it.

On one hand you are saying she is fit to work (JSA claim) then on the other hand you are saying she is unfit to work (IB claim). She needs to make a decision as to which one it is.

You do know that you can't actually claim for IB any longer, if she is unwell then she needs to put in a claim for Employment and support allowance.

    Hi

Total income pm is 1680 Inc of tax credit and cb.

Will be surprised how un expensive Wrexham is, from a study in news of world recently Wrexham was 2nd costliest place to liv behind Swindon. We also pay double council tax as we have debt from 2 years ago and a mess up with ct benefit at the same time.

Our spending we try to keep to a minimum, by shopping for value range, minimum sky package, currently unable to get out of contract etc, we do try to be as savvy as money as we can.

In regard to what we attempting to claim, ib is no longer available it is employment allowance, with our claim for Jsa, my partner just needs some kind of income, so we trying for anything, her answer for if she found work would be if I have a panic attack I will be tough, we need the money, but she is unfit at present to work.

    That's 4 weekly, not pcm.

    .

Housing and living costs more in Swindon/Wrexham than it does in London/Surrey/Berks? You're joking, surely?

Why doesn't she get a job working from home, like I have just done. Your very unlikely to get DLA for panic attacks alone.
I hardly think that £19 a week is going to sort your money problems out anyway.

Not sure in regards to housing costs and council rates IMO would be more expensive down south, the report I read just on everyday life, would I
Imagine that energy bills would be at the same rate where ever we live.

Yes sorry that is 4 weekly.

In response to the £19 a week helping out, you would be surprised we are approx £100 a month over spending but cannot seem to cut back anywhere else now.

Jc are saying partner has not paid enough NI stamp, she is 22, only had from last April ou of work sinve she was 18.

Oh is looking at home work, but not sure what way to go, may I ask what you do please, as a suggestion.

    Thanks
