Actually, I don't mean to nit pick but, given that your benefit payments are also 4 weekly, you actually have a net monthly income of more than I said, equivalent to your earning nearly £30,000 pa gross. Living in a low rent area like Wrexham, you must have an enormous amount of excess outgoings for you to be struggling.

Have you thought of posting an SOA on the Old Style Board so they can help you cut down your outgoings?

Thanks for that, I seem to only get to 21,840 as our total income during year. My wage pw plus tc at 25pw plus 20 pw cb x 52 = 21,840

Our rent is 500 pm as we rent privately, looked into council house but 9 yr waiting list.

What is an SOA, and how do I do one of those lol.
  • Good idea to do a Statement of Affairs (its just a record of all income and outgoings) so you can see where you are over spending and can make cut backs. I have to agree that your income does seem very liveable and your rent isnt high either. Well, not in comparison with Surrey where I pay just over £520 month for a council house and £120 for council tax. I don't get any help with either, as have an income of £14800 salary (before tax and ni), plus child benefit for one child and tax credits.

I would be suprised if you are entitled to any other financial help so the SOA is the way to go and budget within your income. Best of luck and I hope your wife feels better soon.

    Hi there,

If you pop over to the Debt Free wannabe board, someone will give you a link to do a SOA and then you will get so much helpful advice to see if they can come up with a plan of action for you.

    Good luck op!

ONW said gross. You figure is lower because there is no tax paid on some of your income e.g cb, tax credits etc.

Who filled in your DLA forms?

The care part is about caring for yourself. To get lower rate you need to be not able to make a cooked meal even when all the ingredients are there for you. Such as peeling veg etc. And up to one hour care a day.

Mobility is about getting out and about. This comes in two rates.

It is all about getting out and about, can you go out on your own in strange places, walking speed etc.

A Statement of Affairs is all your income and outgoings go to the debt board they have template.
