Want a iPhone...just swap sims?

I used to have a iPhone 3Gs, but sold it when my free internet ran out with PAYG, and got myself a Desire HD. But frankly I don't like it that much, and its not as user friendly as the iPhone I've found.

My question is, if I get a unlocked iPhone (or one locked to T-Mobile), can I just swap the sim card over?

I'm guessing I can, but seem to remember something that Apple set the prices etc.

Also, would I still get my unlimited internet usage if I did?

Thanks.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

You can. You'll have to cut it if it is iP4.

If you have it unlimited with Desire, it will be the same with iP.

What do you mean 'cut it'?

Chances are I'll be getting the 3Gs, they go for a similar price, so can sell my DHD and buy the 3Gs off eBay.

iP4s use new 'micro' sims. You can buy a special cutter from e-bay to cut the excessive plastic from a normal sim.

Be very cautious with buying expensive phones from ebay:

You can get your "normal sim" changed to a "micro sim" in a T-Mobile shop - it costs £10, is instant and saves buying a cutter and possibly damaging the sim.
I did this for use on an ipad. The store gave me a free sim carrier which then enables the "micro sim" to be used again as a "normal sim".
