Santander E-Savings Account Nightmare!

I am having a nightmare withdrawing some money out of my Santander E savings account i recently set up.

After sending me 3 lots of wrong passwords/login details... I now have to wait another 10 days for a new lot of passwords :(

I have phoned them a few times now and seem to be getting nowhere. I cant access my online banking to add a linked account to withdraw money, they wont add a linked account over the phone and won't authorise anything. They seem to be trying to hold onto my money any way possible.

I need a small amount out asap.

Anyone else having problems with these muppets?

Looks like i am going to have to open up a different savings account.

I have never had problems like this with previous savings accounts. They were all easy to set up and access your money!

If Santander spent as much effort looking after existing customers as they do attracting new customers, then these forums wouldn't be packed with disatisfied ex-customers!
But Santander REALLY don't care a jot.
There's plenty of better places to put your stash.... without the hastle and headaches that dealing with Santander bring.

Whats your opinions on ING Direct? I have had a previous account with them, but i heard that they are not covered for losses in the uk?

I too have had huge problems with the online, no access for almost 5 weeks now, managed to speak to some Scottish lady who said there had been a system problem since April sending out wrong info or info not getting sent out at all! She has resent it and I am hoping to get it and that it works this time then when I have it I am moving EVERYTHING away from santander such a terrible experience.
    Hope you get it sorted.

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

I had a quite large amount with Satan-der and they are devils for holding onto your cash.

Have been through hell and back trying to make debit card payments to my Hargreaves Lansdown Fund & Share account. When I rang them from overseas, they told me to go into a Local branch and prove my ID to a cashier. I said nearest branch is 7,700 miles away, they couldn't give a hoot and wouldn't unlock my debit card so I ended up losing some growth in the shares I wanted to purchase.

For the next 13 working days I transferred out (by Bacs) the maximum and left the darlings just 1p in my current account and Zilch in the esaver.

Now keep sending them statements Santander....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have a savings bond with them, they seem fine to do banking with, their customer service has been spot on so far, they just might not offer as attractive rates as Santander!

ING are covered by the Dutch compensation scheme, not sure of the amount covered but it is relatively high so unless you have £100k's of money in one place then you should be fine!

It's clearly shown on their website - http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/savings/compensation.asp
......our eligible UK depositors would be entitled to claim up to €100,000 (£86,970 as at 16th March 2011*) per depositor from the Dutch Central Bank's Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

That's interesting as in my experience, they won't do anything secure unless it is over the phone.
