I'm with Handelsbanken and they are very good.

Email the branch and they email you back very quickly. All decisions are made in branch.

The only problem is the internet banking service is a little dated - I'm an Apple Mac user and the log in will only work on Firefox and no chance of checking my account on a Mac or iPad in the UK.

The Swedes (Handelsbanken is Swedish) have an Iphone and iPad app but it dont work in the UK!

    Any more questions, do ask!

Are they any good on mortgages? Am looking to remortgage next year maybe.

And do you know if their mortgages would be available via brokers? I just wonder as it talks about tailoring services in the branch. To me that implies that you would have to contact them directly.

The nearest branch isn't London unless you live there! Basically the nearest branch to your postcode is your branch!

Hope they figure the online banking out soon!

A quick google search gives clues that they are in the 40-??-?? range, so using HSBC as the clearing bank.

Whilst they may use HSBC as their clearing bank, HSBC don't have anything to do with running your account.

No mention on their website about their fees - so they offer free personal banking?
