Thank you to whoever it was that posted the link to the food price price comparisons - funnily enough, I was just moaning about it this morning after my shopping trip - but I didn't think it was 40% more expensive now, but when you look at the prices it is!

Well, my shopping expedition was a mixed success (I think).
I took £40 out in cash and started off going to a few shops that I don't normally go to....
    Farmfoods - £1.19
    Quality save - £3.80
    Pound shop - £3
    Aldi - £9.20
    Wilkos - 90p
Then staggered into Mr S and managed to spend £38.50:eek:

That makes a total of £56.59:(

BUT I did buy lots of stuff that will last a few weeks - cleaning stuff, laundry stuff, toiletries etc. So even though I spent more than I anticipated I have bought lots of stuff and got more for the money than I would have if I'd just gone to the supermarket.

£40 cash was nowhere near enough in the end - thankfully I had a debit card with me:o

Hello everyone. Hope you are all well.

Real life has been rather hectic & stressful the last couple of weeks so I haven't managed to post & have only have time to read the last 2 pages. I have just added up all my receipts, well its all the receipts that were in my purse so I hope that is them all and it was surprisingly better than I thought. Although, there was quite a few of them, most of them were just for little bits & pieces so over all not too bad. I should actually make this month as OH's pay day is normally the 26th but as that is a Sunday, he may actually get paid on Friday & I think I will only need bread & maybe some fruit.

Next month really needs to be mega cheap so I really need to just use up what we have. I can't believe how quickly the months are flying by - half way through the year already & not long until the longest day of the year. Scary!

I went to our local Lidl today, I have never seen anything like it. They were having a sale, loads of boxes with non food items priced from 50p upwards. People were shoving each other out of the way, trolleys everywhere, kids screaming.
I got some of their small cartons of fresh orange juice at 49p for 5, bargain and some salad.
I am a bit of a fizzy coke addict and decided to try their own brand, it is very similar and at 6 x 500ml bottles for £1.65, so much cheaper than the branded stuff at over £1 a bottle. For the first time in a long time I did not buy the meat offer, i told myself that by the time i really needed it, it will be back on offer.

  • hi everyone,

sorry haven't been able to keep up with posts this month but hope everyone is doing o.k.
visited A**A this morning about 9a.m and the whoopsie counter was huge. I was lucky enough to buy quite a lot of meat. steaks, roast beef joint, lean mince etc.
Had to call into my sister's on the way home and leave a lot in her freezer as I knew there would never be enough space in my own. Told her just to use anything that took her fancy. The best part of finding a bargain is being able to share it.:j
Could have bought loads more but thought it only fair to leave some for other bargain hunters.

Feeling quite pleased with myself, sets me up well for the rest of the day. Hope everyone has a frugal day.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!
