Scared I might be pregnant...

Am a regular poster on the forums but didn't want to put this under my regular username.
I hope it is ok to post this here, let me know if there's anything i'm not allowed to write.
A few days ago OH and I stupidly had some unprotected 'fun', we have been using condoms for the last 2 years as the pill made me into a sobbing hormonal mess. We are getting married in September, so obviously have a strong relationship and are planning on having kids in the future but weren't just yet.
I have been on an online ovulation calculator and it seems this was during my fertile period, to be honest I am scared to death, obviously a baby wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen but financially I don't know how we would manage. We have no debts but rent in a very expensive area and I am the main wage earner (self-employed), OH is a waiter and doesn't make much money. I know it is probably unlikely that I am pregnant but I am just totally panicking about this
Just really upset that this happened as we have always been so safe before and it was down to a bit too much vino! Sorry just needed to vent, not sure what advice I am looking for exactly.

Maybe get yourself to a chemist or NHS walk in clinic for the Morning after pill?
My understanding is that it is not *just* for the morning after IYSWIM.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
You can take the morning after pill up to 72 hours after sex. May be too late for that?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

A coil can be fitted up to 5 days after if its too late for MAPThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If you really do not want a baby at this point and still have time, then consider if the MAP may be right for you.
Apart from the initial shock, if you have a good stable relationship, work and a decent place to live, then a baby may not be such a disaster? If finances is the only concern, you have some time for your OH to find a better paid job, and perhaps move to a less expensive area too?0 -
Thanks everyone. It has been more than 72 hours now. We are already planning to move back to Scotland next year, where we met, which is considerably cheaper than where we live now (Surrey). We have some savings but don't think we would have enough to survive for 6 months on. I am usually really good at saving but the wedding is taking up quite a lot of money at the minute and we aren't exactly being extravagant with it. I think I just need to stop panicking!0

Phone NHS direct and discuss your options with them.
Good luck xSome days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

It doesn't sound like it is something that you would hate to be honest based on your first post.
If you really really didn't want to get pregnant, you would have sought out the Morning After Pill within 3 days of doing the deed, and you would not have waited until the Sunday evening of a Bank Holiday weekend before asking for "advice" safe in the knowledge that there would be no way of acting on that advice in time!
So, hope you get the outcome you want, whatever that is, and that you can talk your fianc! round to the idea.0 -
If you are pregant then an early abortion is an option.0

As is keeping the baby.
Have a look on here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Expectingorbringingupchildren/index.htm for what you may be entitled to if you are pregnant and have a baby.
The first thing you should do is establish whether or not you are pregnant and then you can talk things through.0 -
Just to reassure you it takes a lot of people a lot of practices to actually fall pregnant, so i wouldn't worry too much until your period is late and/or you can do a pregnancy test.0
