Noisey WB 24CDi

Hi. When I turn on a hot water tap anywhere in the house the boiler starts making loud clunking noises. I turn the tap off immediately and 2 lights on the front flash together (the ch and hot water). On checking this I've found that its the overheat cut-off thermostat. After waiting a few minutes it can be re-set but on trying the hot tap later it obviously hasn't cured the problem.

I've bled all the radiators and that's not made a difference. The water pressure is fine.

This is typical as the boiler/ch cover ran out last month and I didn't renew it as I really can't afford it.

Does anybody out there know what this could be and will it be mega bucks to get sorted.

Until then no baths/showers!!

Thanks in advance.

    What pressure is it showing?
If you've bled the rads, you should need to top up a little.
Any water escaping from the pressure relief valve pipe?

Pressure needle is on the 1. Pretty sure no water is escaping - I'll check that later today. Thanks.

My step-dad popped over to listen to the noise. He's going to ring the installers tomorrow.

Am sure it'll get sorted so until then its pop to mum's for shower and boiling kettles for washing up

No flow of water through the boiler, hence why it is banging and over heating.

Could simply be the pump packed up, or a blockage.

I was thinking the same thing, sounds like a circulation issue. Have you tried running the heating, and does it make the same noise?
