Sky FreeSAT card

Hi
I am a SKY world subscriber.
I also have a Sky box with a Freesat card in my back room which doesn't receive Channel5 (new frequency etc etc).
I went to the replace card section of sky dot com and they want a 1-off £20 for a new card.
Is this correct, despite me being a monthly top tier subscriber?
Thanks in advance.

Yes,it is correct because they don't make any money from the 'freesat' card apart from the initial £25.Being a top tier subber wont hold water with them.Only people that got a free card were one's who'd purchased Sky's "Pay once,watch forever" customers.0

Cheers. But I already paid £20 for the Freesat card a few years ago. Does that mean I am already a 'pay once watch forever' customer? Or is there a difference?
Thanks again.0 -

It depends,I think it was an offer at the time so the only thing you can do is e-mail Sky,have a read of the thread below;

No. The cards are not an "indefinite" one. When they release updated ones you have to pay again.0

Which was where the issue with the 'pay once' offer cropped up,Sky effectivly broke their own contract with those customers..But anyone not on that original deal will have to cough up for a new card.0 -
There is an FTA version of CH5 which Freesat users view, it can be added to a Sky box in other channels, it won't appear in the EPG and a bit fiddly to view but is free.0

Whilst we are on the subject of freesat cards. I have one installed in my very old old sky box which is in the bedroom and cost me £15 I think. I recently had a HD box installed and have since moved the old sky + box into the loft and expected to have to buy a another freesat card to get the FTA channels on my sky + box. However, when I plugged it into the TV I found that all the FTA channels already worked. So do all sky + boxes come with FTA channel access?0

All Sky boxes come with the 'basic FTA' channels already activated.it's the card that regionalises it to the area where you live.
Sky as well,craftily,have made some of the channels you get free on Freeview,such as the ITV HD channels,Fiver,Five US & Five (depending on region) as well as where I live,the Eire channels,part of the subscription package.
If the card you put in your old Sky+ is the white one,then it's the newer issue card.0
