Hi
I was wondering if you could help me. my parents purchased 2 ceiling lights and 2 wall lights from Argos it was quiet a few months ago and she cannot find her receipt. the thing is she arranged for an electriction to come and fit these on friday and when he opened the box the fittings are missing in one and the light shade is cracked. Where will she stand with getting a refund from argos, she said she is not bothered about a getting her money back as such and that a credit vouchers will be ok as she can spend it on something else.
thanks

If it is over six months, your parents will need to prove that the product was faulty when purchased. That may be difficult.
I don't think Argos will do anything for you after so long.
Especially without a receipt.
Do you have any other proof od purchase?0 -
unfortunately no they dont she's had the house upside down and think it was about four months ago when she bought them, they are still selling them in the argos catalogue, thing is they cost £90 altogether and she has had to purchase some more.
And also with the fitting missing she could not have had them all fitted at once sort of thing grrrr ... they are still in all the original boxes and everything£365.00 in 365 day challenge = £5.00/£365.00:rolleyes:0 -
Some people would buy a new one, take the parts out and then take it back for a refund.
I wouldn't do that myself though...........0 -

Did she pay by card or cash? We used to accept bank/card statements (online banking, print it off?) instead of a receipt in cases where it had been lost.
Another point is that if...
then the box should have the catalogue number on it, which they won't tell you but they do accept as proof of purchase (or at least, our store did). However in that case she would either get a replacement, or a refund onto giftcard of the lowest recorded selling price as there is no proof of what price it was bought at.they are still in all the original boxes and everything
One problem I can see is that they were damaged, not faulty, and as they are over £60 the refund would have to be authorised by a manager/team leader who may make things difficult as it was so long ago that they were purchased.
Also, although this doesn't apply on this occasion as it was over four months ago, the back system holds a record of every item movement (including sales) up to three months back. If a customer can tell them a date and rough time of day, sometimes they will accept that.
I say all this because I used to work at Argos, but I can't say this is how every store would work, and it really depends on the member of staff that you get. Maybe there's something there that can help you though

Do you remember how you paid for it? If it's by card a bank statement should do. Or you can try the above posters suggestion and go in with the box with the catalogue number on it.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

The difficulty with that suggestion being that they may, instead of refunding you, give you the missing parts. Some people would buy a new one, take the parts out and then take it back for a refund.
I wouldn't do that myself though...........Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0
