have we all got our wellies on, then? It has been a bit damp to say the least!
So it was you peeking over my shoulder while I was fighting with the plumbing this afternoon/evening then :rotfl:

All my taps arrived today (3 deliveries - first set with foot postman, then two more with PF van, then last two with a courier), so I decided to switch from decorator/floor layer to plumber for a while.

Found my hot water stop tap (it's the valve right at the back of the airing cupboard with a label attached that reads 'hot water isolator' ;) ), so cranked that off and turned off mains outside.

Took cold tap off en-suite basin and replaced with new one - a few grazed knuckles, but not too bad. Then took the hose off the hot tap and ended up getting showered..... so had to slam a bucket under it while it continued to trickle while I was changing the tap !!!

I then went around the house turning on all the hot taps and waiting for them to stop running..... and waited, and waited, and waited......

The bathroom basin finally stopped, so I've managed to change the taps on that one without a repeat incident.

Discovered the kitchen and cloakroom hot taps appear to stop, but if I turn them 'off' and then back 'on' after 5 mins there's enough pressure built back up behind them for them to run slowly for another couple of minutes - so it appears the hot water isolator isn't functioning properly

But I figured that (with a bucket underneath, and expecting a short 'shower') I could probably get the cloakroom taps changed. Wrong!! The fittings are a nightmare to get to, and it took me forever to get the cold one off. The new cold tap is now in place, but I can't tighten it enough to stop it turning on the basin :( Didn't seem to have dislodged the fittings on the old hot one at all (despite having removed the U-bend to get better access), so decided to give up for tonight as I want/need my tea.

Turned the mains water back on, only to come back into the house to find cold water spurting out of the connection under the cloakroom basin and drenching the carpet (which is about to come out anyway) - so another quick shut-down of the mains and another attempt at tightening the connection, which appears to have worked.

Then I turned the hot back on, only to find I must have managed to loosen the connection slightly as that one was now dripping (very steadily) from there !!! So hot water back off, connection tightened as best I can, and hot water back on.

Seems to be holding up for now, but it looks like I may have to find a plumber to come and sort out the isolator and change the last few taps for me :( And I really struggled to find a plumber 2 years ago (took me about 6 weeks), so don't rate my chances any better now :o

Had to nip down the stores a couple of times between jobs for things I need to complete tasks though - so yet another spend day for me.

Epic fail on NSD #2 today :( I was doing so well, left my bank cards at home, hadn't spent any cash I had on me and then I went and renewed a subscription online without thinking ( the site had my card details saved) Darn. If I had waited until tomorrow (when I am going to have to have a spend day as I need to renew my travel pass) then I wouldn't have wasted a NSD. :( Heck. Ok. Thursday will be NSD #2 for sure.

Tut tut Laura. We do not speak the "f" work here! :D Oops, you renewed your subscription online. But at least you noticed you'd done it. :T It gets easier. You get more organised and by the time it's a "spend" day, you'll have a wee list of other bits and bobs you need to pick up too. That's when it also becomes an obsession! ;)

[STRIKE]NSD 13 for me please.[/STRIKE] I did spend 50p on parking, but it was work related and I'll get that back.

ETA: Oopsssss!!! Talking of it getting easier and getting more organised.... Uhm, some days your head doesn't quite keep up with you! Well, I don't keep up with me anyway! I didn't get an NSD at all! Completely forgot I posted off a BookMooch... better go let them know I've sent it!

Personally I blame Igoer's turnip cider! It looked like a good strong builder's brew so I took a magnificent huge swig of it! Uh oh!!!!
