Unfortunately yesterday was a spendy day, and more spendy than I'd anticipated. Hairdresser tried to rip me off because the owner wasn't there. Was a really cheap place to go to £10 for a dry trim. The guy was really pushy, and wouldn't answer me when I asked about the price. I should have left, but I was too shy to stand up for myself. He finally stated the price at the end £35-considering I'd gone in with the intention of paying £10, you can imagine my surprise. I only had £20 in my purse, and no switch card-thank my lucky stars now. I'm supposed to go back today with the other £15. No Way!! I'm going back to my old hairdresser who didn't pressure me, charged £28 and you even get a beer. In this one there was nowhere to hang my coat, he cut another customers hair and so that was all in my coat, and he thought I was going to leave my mobile phone with him or my work ID card, until today. As if!!
I ended up going back to work and bursting into tears. Anyhow sorry for the rant, today I'm full of fire again. I'm calling the manager to complain, and I'm going to book an appointment with my old hairdressers for two months time. It did spur me on to submit a job application though. Sometimes you should do things in anger
Have a good day everyone. xx

So I got some more good news today, I got an interview for the job I had the phone interview for. :J Its not for another 3 weeks, which is good as I need to prepare a presentation for it. So fingers-crossed that it goes well. Still have another job application to do. Oh, its all go here. Feeling great and I haven't even increased my tally. Hoping that my the rest of the week will be less spendy.
Hope everyone else is OK. I see the NSDs are rolling in, well done everyone. :T
You're welcome Rock Cakes - seems life is turning a corner for you ATM. I'm sure you'll get the job that's right for you in the end!

 Gosh, poor you! What a trauma! Do you have a local college that trains hairdressers? I've got one near me and it's great and very cheap. The students are totally supervised by experienced lecturers so your "do" is gonna be ok. It's final year students they let loose on the public so they're not total novices. Just a thought!:)
Anyhoo - Good morning and a quick post to say I got #3 yesterday!
Have a lovely day all

Thrifty Fifty, that sounds awful! You asked the price and the hairdresser avoiding answering, shocking and embarrassing.0 -

Thats rubbish thrifty!
It's so hard finding a good hairdresser, I spent years going somewhere where they had 4 different people seeing to me because they constantly overbooked and swapped around, leaving you with trainees, you never knew how long you were going to be in there, waited 45 mins just to be seen for a cut once  AND people who hadn't booked appointments were seen before me! So glad I moved!
Anyway I appear to have forgotten to have updated yesterday -
Sunday was NSD 3, didn't really leave the house so not much opportunity to spend :rotfl:
Yesterday was VERY spendy! I'm counting DDs now and I had council tax, phone/internet and CAR INSURANCEall out on the same day! Hello Overdraft, it's been a week, how nice to see you again!

Hello all, well done on all your NSD's people.
Naughty me forgot my lunch yesterday so I spent £10 topping up my card at work which we use in the canteen and around the building to buy food, stamps, etc as we are a cashless office. Minimum top us using debit card is £10 and my plan is to make this last as long as possible.
Aiming for an NSD today, tomorrow and Thursday to make up for it!
OH and I are stretching out the food we have at home till Friday... roll on payday... only 2 weeks to go!0 -
One wee NSD to make a Grand Total of 2 by Midnight. One day at a time then see how I go before I aim for another NSD. Must limit Grocery Budget as well by using up Cupboards, Fridge Freezer and Fridge.
Re Phone calls I have had Sales calls from some sodding company that got my details. I just fob them off with an excuse. My policy is always be kind to frontline staff but be ruthless to Big Business as it exploits both low paid workers and consumers as we all know to our cost.:eek:#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Afternoon NSD'ers :hello:slowlyfading wrote: »
Please can you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold and preferrably LARGE so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - any colour will do, though I am personally partial to PURPLE
Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :ANO SPEND CHALLENGE.
1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way
3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fineEveryone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.
OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch& have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you
2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one(**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile
We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket clubThe only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained
And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"
